North Country extremely good-Frances McDorman and Woody Harrelson stole the show!

In the last three and a half days, I watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-7, Friday 13th 1-10 (skipping 5 because we were short of time and it's a cop-out film), Freddy vs Jason, Drunken Master, two episodes of Stan Lee's Striperella, about four episodes of the disturbing Irish puppet show Podge & Rodge, and Wrestlemania 23 (I'm indifferent to all that wrestling malarkey, but my friend wanted to watch it, so we did - and it was ok, actually)

The Nightmares started off alright, and got gradually more and more ludicrous. Also, Freddy is an arse.

The Fridays were slightly better, but still became pretty daft.

Freddy vs Jason was pants, but it fun to see that git Freddy actually get a good kicking for once.

Natural Born Killers is on the TV. I've only seen part of it before. I might just drag myself away from the computer to watch...

Don't know how British TV handles this stuff, but I can't imagine watching NBK on TV over here (US), assuming they would even broadcast it in the first place. ;)

I'd just get the director's cut on DVD and watch that if you want to see it. Great movie, if very bizarre at points.

I don't see the problem; watch stuff like that on TV all the time. As long as it's past the watershed, its fine to show that stuff.

Anyhow, watched it and Natural Born Killers is good, but it would be better without a lot of the unusual stylistic stuff, I think.

What I should have said: If they were to show it on US TV (a regular channel as opposed to cable, of course), it would've been censored to all hell.

Ahh...trapped in a land of Puritans.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Pretty. That's all. Pretty, and nothing more.

Watched 'A Good Year' the other night. Good fun. Romantic enough for the girls, talent enough for the boys. decent storyline too.

I watched "Deja vu" with Denzel Washington this weekend, and it's actually really good, and very much a sci-fi flick.

I watched 'Stand By Me' and 'Unforgiven' last night, SBM was much better than expected for a SK adaption and Unforgiven was superb.

Saw Mr. Brooks at the theater two days ago-still not sure what I feel about it. I think what makes the moral really creepy is you're
Spoiler
not supposed to feel anything about it...

A crappy little '80s film called The Wild Life. The film is notable as Cameron Crowe's follow up to Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and as Eddie Van Halen's first foray into soundtracks.

The movie is so-so, but the soundtrack is fascinating. The songs are all......eclectic. But EVH's work is breathtaking. First of all, the riff to 'Right Now' (which came out nearly 10 years after the film) is intact, as are several other Hagar-era VH songs. The fact that David Lee Roth cites this soundtrack as one of the main reasons he left Van Halen makes it that much more interesting.

::sigh:::

Without search working I can't find it. Where was the discussion where all of you boys panned Shrek the Third? Paul and I finally saw it yesterday...

I liked Shrek III.

Not as good as the second one, but I really enjoyed it.

Glad to hear it, Cail.

But, I know I saw a thread where most of the posters commenting on it said they didn't care for it. I wanted to say that I feel it's because it struck me mostly as an animated chick flick. I mean, c'mon. Shrek agonizing over becoming a father being a major plot point? :snort:

I also wanted to comment on those who said the funniest part was where The Gingerbread Man had his life flash before his eyes. That was good, but maybe it's a chick thing; my favorite part was Snow White launching into The Immigrant Song...

:::not to mention The Queen (voice of Julie Andrews) launching into My Favorite Things (a la Maria from The Sound of Music) after knocking the second wall down with her head:::
