after eight long years at the prison - i finally got the job i wanted. running the commissary in the kitchen. this would be ordering food, items and such. supervising the trucks as they come in and being in charge of the inventory. no raise in $$$, but better hours (now 6am-4pm vs 10am - 8pm) and better days off (fri-sun)

Well done sareg, at least on of us is moving in the right direction in the prison.
Don't get me started on the latest round of promotions/courses that I've applied for.
On a brighter note, I've ordered new golf clubs - King Cobra FP's.
They look good, and should take a few shots off my handicap once I get used to them.

all - thanks for the kind words/thoughts.
phantasm - good luck getting your promotion. i know from experience that usually the incompetents get first strike. after they clear out we good workers get a shot.

A little sad. Lucimay opted out of our laundry date in favor of WOW so I sat and ate my blt alone and read "A Feast For Crows." I just finished it tonight and know the expected release date for the next book has been set back to an unknown date. Now I am restless and can't decide whether to reread somthing familiar or start on Tad William's "Shadowmarch." I miss Lucimay. We haven't had laundry date for a few weekends in a row now.

I would rather meet up with you guys IRL.

Perhaps another movie date is in order soon?

Absolutely!
Though I have no idea what my work schedule will be like in the near future... if (when) I get a new job I will probably be back to working weekends...

Feeling lousy.. I had a p/t job offer that I finally have turned down.
Well I retire mid May from the place with a state pension and it was the place where I retired from, who offered me to come back.
As the day approached, my tension and a feeling of dread returned. It's like a feeling of enclosure and hopelessness. That is very bad for my health. See I have had two heart attacks and have 5 stents in my heart. At age 54 that isn't a good thing and I try to relieve all stress as much as possible.
So it looks like I'm going to stay in a retired mode a bit longer before returning to the workforce.
And hope the gut wrenching fades away.

I remember you posting about retiring, Ur Dead, but I did not know the specifics. If it is your desire to return to part time work, I hope the dread of the idea of doing so soon passes.
Today Beorn started the new academic year. Getting him up and out wasn't too bad today, but he gave us both a start when he asked me where his class schedule was. I had picked it up last week (after having to have a couple of classes rearranged), gave it to him, and specifically told him to put it with his supplies for the first day of school. He didn't remember me doing that, so we had to search through his supplies.
ugh.
Thankfully, he found it. Now his only anxiety is that he is in the general school, instead of isolated in what the school calls the "9th grade center." He only had one class outside of the 9th grade center last year, and claims not to know where each of his classes are. So, if his bus arrives on time today, he'll need to get himself a school map. If the bus is late, I foresee a difficult first day.
Ah...first day jitters.
Here's to a successful year, love.

I am feeling contentedly busy. I moved back into the dorms yesterday afternoon, and have already made three new friends, even though most people don't start moving in until Wednesday or Sunday. Every year there are three students that come to my university from Korea, and this year two of them live on my floor. If I understood them correctly (they've only been in the US for three days, so their English is still a bit shaky), there are a total of five Korean students this year, so I'm really excited. I've been trying for the last three years to learn a little bit of Korean, and usually arrange to help the Korean students with their English while they help me with my Korean. Last night I walked to the grocery store with three of the Korean students, and so far we seem to be hitting it off pretty well. They're in orientation right now, so I should probably finish setting up my room and unpacking while they're away.

I had a good laugh this morning over things that kids say. I have these nice customers Vernard and Rosie. Rosie brought Vernard's car in this morning and was telling me to call her and not Vernard because he has this hellraising bunch of preschoolers in his current class and if he gets on his cellphone they will smell it as a sign of weakness and all hell will break loose in the classroom. We were laughing. She says to me, "Seriously precocious and unruly bunch, Last week I brought Vernard something and one girl in his class asked me if I was his girlfriend and when I told her I was his wife she asked if he was naked in front of me!" I thought that was hysterical.

Hugs to Sorus. . .
Congrats to Sarge on the new job, and to UrDead for turning down the part time job.
One of my clients may be facing jail after I make a report tomorrow to her probation officer. She was the one that took too many pills (guess she wanted to sedate herself), but it was a violation of her parole and she is already facing a revocation hearing. I'm not sure I want to be present when her officer writes the violation. . . surely she won't try to hurt us?
In other news, I had a weird dream last night, and woke up wondering if it was true or not. I hate that.
