Hi All - I'm still trying to figure out this forum, so if this post comes up elsewhere, I wrote something similar yesterday but can't seem to find it.

I'm an avid reader of the Chronicle series, but have not read anything else by SD. Are any of his others as good as this series?

Not to date myself, but I read the series when it first began back in the 70's, and am praying good health to SD so he can not only finish the series, but be able to relax as well. I had the same type of stress waiting for Steven King to finish the Gunslinger series.

Anyway, to whomever it is who put together this site, nice work! I look forward to becoming a participating member.

Yeah, I think I have seen this post elsewhere But not to worry, you have a better chance of catching a bear with more traps in different places I always say.

To answer your question, I find SRD's other writings to be superb, though not necesarily for everyone. But you never know unless you try them. I would start off with his short stories, Daughter of Regals and Reave the Just, then Mordant's Need or his Man Who mysteries (which increase in awesomeness with each succeeding volume). Finally, give a go at the GAP, if you finish it, you won't regret it.

I don't know if I agree that the Gap surpassed Dune...they're two such completely different themes that I'm not sure they can be compared. I love them both for different reasons.

Hi all, am new to the forum and wanted to say hello. I started reading the Chronicles about 5 years ago on the recommendation of someone online. I never was really into fantasy novels but I am totally hooked on this series. I have always loved stories about the way the decisions we make can effect the world around us in many ways, as Covenants do with a vengeance. Currently I am reading Fatal Revenant, and for the most part I love it, although it tends to get wordy, I said like a shrug.
