JazFusion, I hope you followed correct eating-Nutella-from-a-jar etiquette and used your forefinger as the spoon! :D

i passed my exit test (needed a 70, got an 84) so i was officially the last sergeant in TDCJ to graduate from the sergeants retreat. i had avoided it for 7 years.
Sounds like you did pretty good, was there any particular reason you avoided it? Just too much trouble?

The place where they do lethal injections...I've never been in there, which is pretty much a given, but I've seen a couple videos of it and even the room they have with the bed now doesn't seem that big (though not constrained).

Holsety - always busy at work. seemed a waste of time. i already had five years in when they instituted the program.

the injection room is tiny. just big enough to get the job done. you don't want to give the inmates options. less space is safer.

You're a hard act to follow, Sarge. 8O ;)

Shara_Lunison arrived last night -- she's visiting for a few days. About an hour after she got here, we had a massive storm front come through. We had had two days of triple-digit temperatures, which ginned things up. Some of the wind gusts were hurricane strength. Driving rain; practically continuous lightning, some of it green. I grew up in the Midwest and have never seen anything like it.

And then the power went out.

And then this morning, our cell phone service died. Apparently some of the towers were damaged in the storm.

We went out around noon to get lunch and find ice. When we got home, the power was still out but cell phone service was back. :7up: We headed over to the house of a friend who had never lost power, charged our cell phones there, and had another meal. When we came home around 7pm, the power was back!
:letsparty:
I was impressed -- and grateful. The radio said 1.2 million people lost power in the DC metro area from this storm, and it might take days to get everybody's juice back on.

Not just GD.

I've felt like it's been pretty quiet around here overall.

I haven't had electricity since Friday. But that's not at all out of the ordinary.

Staying home from church with some stomach thing. But, I have a purring cat on my lap, so life is pretty good.

Yeah, but DotD, you don't expect to have electricity on a regular basis... Okay, fine, I admit it. I'm soft. I actually said today, "I love air conditioning." To think I grew up in a house where we just sat in front of a fan when it got hot...

And, welcome back, Nullo. We missed you. Well, I did. Effy was trying to take over Mallorys while you were gone. Murrin, too. They even made a flag.
sgt.null wrote:i need to see that flag ananda!
Well, Nuller... it was a long week without you. The battle for Mallorys began right away after you left. It went on for several days and everyone from Murrin, Effy, Shaun, Iolanthe (who sided with Murrin citing british pride), the Dread Poet (who sided with effy), Babybottomfeeder, avatar, Jazzfusion (who mainly chimed in to flirt with Beebs), deer, Linna, Vraith, and Aliantha got involved to name a few. Loremaster had to come and sort it out by the end. It was crazy!

Here is the beginning of THE MALLORY'S WAR: Part 1

You crazy kiddo Ananda!

Avatar, at least you can enjoy compulsively rubbing your hand back and forth over your head. I used to love doing that. (I never shaved my head, I just did it to strangers in the street.)
No really, that was the best thing about having a shaved head. That and diving into water. So get ye some rubbing and diving pronto!

Oh and by the way, someone please ask me how old I am. I only have 8 hours left to answer 39! 8O

You're in your 30s, aren't you, Shaun?

And, Avatar, shaved heads are very sexy. Way better than mohawks.

Why, whatever made you ask that question Ananda?
But yes, yes I am in my 30's.

I agree shaved heads are sexy but some girls like mohawks, so maybe Av should have shaved one side only and then he can poke half his head out from behind a wall depending on which type of girl he's with. Of course, he'd have to carry a wall around with him but it's worth it to be considered sexy by 100% of women.

Shame, I loved the mohawk. Reminded me of the '70s. Don't see many around now.
