Looks like there is a nice big recreational lake right there, Lake Conaughy. Get out the water skis!

First offer made. Begin countdown to rejection.

You sound so positive, Murrin. ;)

Jenn -- yay, progress! :)

I spent about seven hours Saturday teaching myself to use Power Director 10 in order to make a trailer for the new book. 8O I think it turned out okay. Here's the result, if you'd like to see it: youtu.be/YgpsESx7V0s

Spent yesterday knitting with friends and with the girls. Then we all went out to dinner together. Didn't get online 'til late last night.

I just need to get through this week at work, and then I'm off for a week. Granted, I'll be hauling a work crew to my mother's house so we can spend three days painting and stuff -- but at least I won't be at work.

It's the first offer, well below asking price. You don't go in expecting them to take it.

Oh yeah, the whole offer/counteroffer/counter-counteroffer thing. Now I remember why I hate buying real estate... Good luck!

Our first house was advertised at £4,300, we offered £3,900 and got it for £4,100. Sold it seven years later for £6,000, and our current one was £15,000. We were lucky with that, they wanted a quick sale and two of the bedrooms had been knocked into one. Now it's all ours and worth £170,000!!

Sarge, good luck with the op, and enjoy the convalescence :D

I'm absolutely whacked. Since last Wednesday we've had two little boys, first Patrick, then Philip who has just gone home. I did manage to clean up a bit yesterday, but the washing and ironing are piling up. Think I'll start on that tomorrow.

First offer: Not rejected?

Told that the owner has made an offer on a property and will consider my offer if hers is accepted...

Contingency offers...a real pain.

Well, I'm cheering up...still madly busy at work, but Thursday is a public holiday, (Women's Day), and the boss has given us all Friday off too, for a decent long weekend. And damn do I need it.

Thanks, DotD! I'm hoping readers are as intrigued with the jaguar as they've been with the owl. :)

Good luck with the first day of school -- not that you'll need it. :)

Still no more word on the house offer.

I don't know how noticable it's been but I've been deliberately trying to post more, and I think I'm starting to settle into it. Not sure I have all that much to say, mind, but I'm getting accustomed to not being as closed off as I usually am.

Edit: Oh crap, I missed my 12,000th post!

A friend on Facebook shared this, claiming it was taken in Birchleigh, Kempton Park . Can you confirm this weather, Av?

Unfortunately I can.

Didn't get that much where I am, but did get some flurries. Widespread snow across SA, not just in the mountains, but all over the place.

First time Jo'burg has had "substantial" (by our standards) snow in 5 years or so. Largely over already though.

Bloody freezing. Thank gods I have the next few days off. I shall spend them in bed with a book. :D

Hmm... how long has the house been on the market? You may wish to allow them some sweat time before countering. Unless the market is hot, which in most places it isn't.

Only been on the market a month. They made a point of mentioning it hadn't been up long with the rejection, heh.

Registration is now open for Heart of God, the new roleplaying game I am running down in Gravin Threndor.

In Heart of God, you play an idol worshipped by your tribe, competing against the other idols to gain control of a powerful artifact that will grant you the power of God Himself.
