I hate cellphones.
I also hate that I may be considering buying one.

Cellphones can be annoying, but they are also quite useful.

Wow, that's not much. Although, when I first got a cell, my use was pretty low, also. I only used it if I really needed it. I didn't use it to make random or friendly calls.
We started using our phones more when my son was in high school and my daughter was in her first year of college. That was when we got a family plan. We have free in-network calling for our whole extended family, so it's easy to make a call on the run, if we need to touch base for some reason. It was also helpful when I was running carpool and my son took his time coming out to get picked up. Instead of getting out of the car and running all over the school trying to track him down, I could just call his cell. I also have used the phone to track down people (mostly family) I am shopping with when we head off in different directions, and stuff like that.

I used 27 hours in the last month.

But that isn't typical for me.

I got my first cell phone a little over a year ago, and rarely use it. It is nice to have, especially since pay phones are just about extinct these days. The Radioshack guy was surprisingly helpful and didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need or want. I have one of those pay-as-you-go plans that suits my limited needs.

About how much do you pay per month? What sort of specs?
That is the type of phone I'm thinking of getting. That way if I crash on my bike again, I'm not cut off from communication.

I have an AT&T GoPhone plan - no monthly fee. It costs $1.00 every day that I actually use the phone, and then $0.10 a minute. I don't know how much texting costs because I never use it. So if you don't use it for weeks, it doesn't cost anything. No automatic billing, you can pay by phone, or in store. (Almost any electronics-type store that sells phones, just tell them you want to put X amount on your phone and they give you a receipt with a code that you enter into the phone to credit your account.) The only downside is that the money you put into it does expire. How long it is good for depends on how much you put on. Don't quote me on this because it's been awhile since I last did it and they could've changed it, but $15 used to be good for a month, $100 for a year, and there were various amounts in between. I put $100 on mine last June, and I have about $30 left now. As for the actual phone, it doesn't look like the exact model is still available, but this one is very similar to what I have.

Wow, I didn't realize cribbage was so complicated! I'll need a lot of practice before I can actually play it.

repetition is the key. the more you play, the better you get.

I hate when you see a TV show, or hear a radio show, and they want to you go on their website, but instead of telling you the address, they just tell you to Google them.
It's like, Thanks a lot for telling me how to use my computer!!
Why not instead of telling your phone number, you tell everyone to look you up in the phone book.

Pharmaceutical commercials. I hate the part where they're like "Ask your doctor if
name is right for you."

or when the side effects sound worse than the disease itself.

Never read the side effects for any medication you're taking, at least if you want to avoid paranoia. Even the most minor drugs seem to come with a huge list. "May cause vomiting, diarrhoea, muscle spasms, headaches, depression (great fun when antidespressants list this), rashes, flatulence, halitosis, piles, necrophilia, gingivitis, disorientation, loss of memory, genital herpes, nasal disfigurement, acne, gradual implosion, sudden obesity, homicidal urges, megalomania, and mild death."

The best/worst was those 'Fat Trapper" pills that were out a few years ago:
"May cause increased flatuence with an oily discharge. Increased bowell movements and an inablility to controll them"
and that's the exact quote.
I'd take being fat over shitting yourself everytime you farted.

That's a high price to pay for artificial slimness!

I particularly like the "oily discharge" bit.
