Thanks!

I brought "TtH" to work with me today in anticipation. I was so happy with my results that I showed off the book to a couple of female attorneys on my floor. I don't think they understood how cool a "prize" it is, however...

I read "TtH" as "THC" which gives this quite an odd little spin.

I haven't joined this thread officially, but a couple of months ago I said to myself that I want to lose a stone before my birthday (11th September).
I started off at 14 stones 10 lbs (way too much for me), and weighed myself yesterday and I was 13 stones and 8lbs.
So, good luck to all who are trying to lose weight.
My method was to eat less junk and the only exercise I did was to be playing more golf than usual (basically walking further).

Congrats, Phantasm! (Erm, so, a stone is 20 lbs? Yes?)
We have one person in our Weight Watchers group who has lost 40 lbs by watching what she eats and walking. That's it. No fancy gym memberships or anything else -- she just walks everywhere and takes the stairs at work and so on. So...those extra steps add up.

Congrats to all the other weight loss success stories. Looks like I am gonna have to go bra shopping. My girls have shrunk. Ah well, it's to be expected since the rest of me is shrinking. They still look good though and (happy dance) not as saggy as I age into my forties. I think the pushups and upper body workouts have helped. It's amazing what you can accomplish by not joining a gym but working out with simple exercises on the floor of your own home. Walking has also been a biggie for me. I walk farther and harder than I have in the past and it really burns those calories and fat cells. I have much nicer calf and thigh defiinition than I have had in years.

I'm not succeeding in losing weight. I'm succeeding in holding the plateau, but that's not much to be proud of. Grrr. I may need to actually get into some hardcore exercising. Running and stuff. Ugh.

Come for a visit. The San Francisco hills will work that off you in no time.

Yeah, those hills are really steep.

Well, I completely fell off the wagon today. I am ravenously hungry, for some reason, and have just been eating and eating. I have tried to limit the high calorie noshing, at least, but have had some things that maybe I shouldn't have.
Maybe I need a plan like that weight watcher's plan that lets you eat what you want, as long as it's certain foods (or types of foods).

It does work, tho I've gone back to counting points (for awhile, anyhow -- until I get tired of doing it again

).
Basically the list is:
* Lean meats
* Nonfat dairy
* Whole grains -- so, brown rice, whole wheat pasta (or the whole wheat blends -- basically I look for that gold-and-brown Grain Council (or whatever it is) stamp on the box), whole grain cereals -- and btw, bread of any sort is *not* included, even if it's whole grain bread
* Legumes (but not nuts)
* Meat substitutes like Boca burgers, etc., and tofu (of course)
* Any fruit
* Any vegetables
* 2 tsp of healthy oil per day
If you're cooking your veggies in butter, of course, then you've got to count the butter. And so on.
Let me know if you want any other info.
Today I went to a 10-year anniversary party for a co-worker. I think I did okay -- I had a piece of cake but threw away the big honkin' icing flower on top (oh man, that was tough!) and otherwise stuck to fruits & veggies. Even after counting the cake, I've still got lots of my extra 35 points left. And just two more days 'til weigh-in. So I think I'm good.

14 lbs. You use some Imperial measurements but not others?

And learn to drive with automatic transmission?

It should be. The United Consistent States of America would be a great name for a country.
