Finished Deadhouse Gates, (insert capitilized WOW), starting Memories of Ice. <-- I hear it's crap, but I'll give it a go anyway ;)

Awesome. It's definitely getting a re-read.
(This copy's gotta go back to the library, but I'll be purchasing my own.)

I think we need to spawn a new thread called "What Malazan book are you reading RIGHT NOW?".

 (And it's Stonewielder right now. I slowed down once it looked like it won't be until another four months until I can get my chemically laced hands on a copy of Orb, Sceptre, Throne.)

Still re-reading ASOIAF, just started A Feast for Crows.

On re-reading, I find myself wondering why some have said it's so bad, compared to the previous books. I am finding the threads of the story engrossing, even though I know what's coming.

That was sarcasm right?

I'm reading Dust of Dreams. You can guess how I feel about Memories of Ice.

BTW, some of you who should be are not posting in the Erikson forum at the bottom of the page. Don't wait too much longer. If Onos T'oolan gets mad enough to come up here, things will probably get pretty ugly.

Yes that was sarcasm! (It's my default mode of operation, so for future reference if in doubt, read my posts through this lens :o )

Fist, I've been wary of spoilerings in the Erikson forum, going to be opening a few more threads as I go. I may even comment. Last thing I want is a lock-weilding Tool on my tail!

wayfriend,

David Eddings, "The Diamond Throne." It's light and kinda predictable but I was in the mood for that sort of read right now anyway.

Grabbed A Dark and Hungry God Arising from the shelf just to browse, but found myself engrossed is the story again immediately. So now what, a complete re-read of the series? Wouldn't be the first time...

Well, some of us aren't made of money and blue-to-purple hair ;)

The City and the City. Half-way through, I am failing to see the point.

Listening to the Gap Bk2, close being finished with it, then on to Book 3. The Narrator is really good, much better then the Narrators for the Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. It's been a good 10 years since I read the Gap Novels for the first time.

That's too bad. I thought it was kind of a cool book.

House of Chains.

Re: The City and the City. I wasn't sure how I felt about this book either. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I'm going to read some more Mieville and see how I go. wayfriend, have you read his other works and did they score more points with you?

is that the detective one? i think it is. it's good. i liked it. it's about seeing and not seeing i think. mieville is an interesting guy. i didn't think (from reading perdido street station) that i was gonna like him much, but then a few weeks later i got a hankerin to be in that bas lag frame of mind again. my favorite, i think, is The Scar. Bellis Coldwine and Tanner Sack are my favorite characters.

but about The City & The City, he said he wanted to write a novel that his mother would've liked to read and she was big into detective fiction.

here's an interview with him where he talks about the book you might find interesting...
