(By the way, we also share a birthday with the Beatles' recording career. 'Love Me Do' was released on the 5th of October, 1962. They seemed to do pretty well out of it.)
I booked off yesterday to go househunting, and I think I may have found something. A
pied-à-terre, pis-aller, faute de mieux et crainte de pis — not that it's in France or anything. Actually I have my eye on a townhouse in a neighbourhood I've always rather liked. Calgary was built rather oddly, growing north, west, and south before it ever moved much to the east. So there is a quiet suburban neighbourhood, built mostly in the 1960s, about two miles due east of the city centre. Not too expensive, yet fantastically convenient to everything. (It even has its own private overpass over the freeway — no interchange — for a direct route downtown that nobody else uses. This was put there, I think, chiefly for the benefit of the bus system.)
We shall see if they accept my application. That's the next hurdle.

As we know by now, every Edgetar is special in its own way. Myste, you look especially regal in all those colors.
I'm afraid my birthday isn't quite the celebratory affair as all the balloons would suggest, but thanks all the same.
