Kinda like me then...I'm so happy I'm squeeing constantly!

Elfie!! So good to see you!
And congratulations on the marathon, Cleburne.
And glad Avarar made it back home safely.
Tuesday is nearly over, and I have refrained from burning myself today. However, I did burn out a fuse last night at 10pm. . . not only does my stupid duplex have old BUS fuses (the round ones with the glass tops), but the fuse box is located OUTSIDE! At least my friend left me a bag full of fuses when she moved out. . . but it still wasn't pleasant to stand outside wearing pajamas changing (unlabed!) fuses in 31 degree weather. Brrrr!
Anyhow, on the positive side of things, I was going to the staff lounge to heat up a lean pocket when our receptionist came down the hall bearing a box of free subs from
Jimmy John's. It totally made my day.

No question about it, free food always tastes best.
I can't believe I did this: this morning, I
made a list of the stuff I want to do this week while on vacation. I am pathetic and hopeless. So much for relaxing...

That said, I knocked several things off the list today, including my bloody Czech homework (urgh, bleah -- the woman gave us a freakin' *ton* of work this time). And I think that most everything that's left is fun stuff. For instance, tomorrow I'm scheduled to go to the pool, see a movie and make cookies.

(Before somebody asks, I'm aiming to see "Burn After Reading".)

It's Wednesday. Middle of the week. One of my guys called in sick today so we are short handed and scrabbling to catch up but on the other hand I got a new flatscreen monitor so I have finally retired the antique I was using.

Good to see you back, Av! And take care of yourself, Balon!
So you may remember that I sat down yesterday morning and made a list of everything I planned to do for the remainder of this week. Yeah, well, the Universe has paid me back for my temerity. I spent a good hour knitting, early this morning, then discovered I had made a mistake some 80 rows back, so I had to rip it all out.

Spent some time re-knitting the screwed-up part. Then realized if I was going to make yogurt this week, today was the ideal day, so I started that project -- and then realized that it would be too late, once the yogurt was done, to see a matinee. And then Batty reminded me that I'd promised to sign up for NaNaWriMo, so I got online to do that -- and here I am. And now I don't feel like going to the pool, either.
Ah well....

The last 24 hours have been somewhat intense. Last evening I attended a presentation about the genocide that's happening in Darfur. Then this morning in my history class we discussed slavery in America and the slave trade in the late 1700s and early 1800s. And this afternoon in another class four Holocaust survivors came and spoke with us. There are good things in the world too, right?

I got transferred downtown as of today. Meant to call Jenn to tell her I'm no longer down the street from her workplace. Sorry, Jenn.
And I meant to call Luci and tell her I am working right up the street from her again, but she solved that by walking into my workplace first thing this morning.
Small world, I tell ya. Small world.

At last nights Cub Scout meeting we invited a couple of Aikido instructors to come to the meeting and give the scouts some self defense tips. One of the tips was to "attack the 'tender' areas". My son who is 8 leaned over and whispered in my ear "he means their nuts doesn't he?" I replied while snickering "yeah, and their eyes". Tonight Daniel threatened his little brother who is 6 with what he called "the nut claw" and when Ashley asked him where he got that from he said that he learned it at Cub Scouts last night.
I assure you that the Boy Scouts of America does not endorse any form of "the nut claw".
I couldn't help but laugh.

If y'all have journals you record such moments in for each of the kids, that one is definitely a keeper!!

haha
I had the leg-latch of slow suffocation when I was a kid.
Work was great. My long hair can cover my earphones, so I was listening to reggae ALL day. The only downside was when I would start swaying to music no one else could hear. Lot's of weird looks today.

woke up this morning feeling disgusting. Which is strange for me, because when I get sick, I always feel like crap. But this is the first time I've ever felt
gross.
Ugh. Screw having to go to work.

That sucks Balon. Feel better soon. I'm kinda tired and a little bleagh. It's cold and dreary in SF and I can't seem to get warm. I turned the heater on in the office but the cold seems to have leached into my bones.

thanks, Jenn.

It's been a yuck day here too. I stayed up until 4am last night. . . met up with friends in the evening, and talked until midnight when one friend decided she wanted pancakes, so we went to IHOP. Like I said, I got home at 3:30 am and went to bed at 4. . . wondering how I managed to do stuff like that and get up for morning classes in college.
Anyway, my first appointment (at 12:30) was having a rough time and wanted to talk about being sexually molested by his sister and neighbor when he was growing up. I didn't quite know what to say to him about it. I feel inadequate, and felt like the things I had to say weren't much help. How do you convince someone that his life is worth something when everyone around him has abused him and treated him like crap? Gah!
I think I am going to cancel my last appointment for the evening and go home and be a hermit.

I feel in between. On the one hand, I want to do the best job I can at whatever task I'm performing. On the other, the way the theater is run/how much I'm being payed/crappy managers makes it really difficult to care at all. Some days the former wins. Today it was the latter.
Oh well.
Time to spark up and watch some Naruto. Night everyone!
