Watched/rented "The Eye" and watched/purchased "Jumper". The Eye was disappointing. I felt like I'd watched this scenario play out dozens of times before.
Jumper wasn't terrific but was kind of cool/interesting. Not disappointed I bought it but probably won't watch it again for a while.

Jumper was one that desperately needs more character development. The writer and director left it open for that (hoping it would make enough to spawn sequels, but not sure if they'd get the chance to make them).
Watched The Other Boleyn Girl last night. I was unfamiliar with the story beforehand, so I was surprised by the twists and turns. I found it really tragic how the girls' father and uncle pushed them into the position they were in, and basically destroyed them in the process.

I watched that on the flight over to the US. Pretty good film, if somewhat depressing. I generally like Eric Bana, and Natalie Portman did really well, which was quite a revelation. I've heard people talking about her being a good actress, but I've only seen her in the Star Wars prequels (in which everyone was bad) and V for Vendetta (in which she was fine, but nothing special), so it was interesting to see her giving a damn good performance in this film.Rigel wrote:Watched The Other Boleyn Girl last night. Yeah, Danlo, bring it. Can't guarantee we'll see it, but I do love me some Jacob's Ladder. But yes, we may have to have a viewing of that after we show Cov Jr. the wonders of Leon, AKA the Professional.

Just finished watching Maximum Overdrive. Not one of the greatest movies I have ever seen, but not bad. The mention of the UFO at the end came a bit late.

Two super quick reviews Thunderbirds on the Disney Channel-I loved the original ITT production, even though marionettes, like clowns, generally, creep me out. Supercar, Capt. Scarlet---da bomb. As and adult I thought it really sucked-my 3 year old loved every minute of it.
Charlie Wilson's War, finally finished after 3 dif viewings. Very good, despite Hank's southern accent. P. S. Hoffman saved it from being Castaway on Capitol. Hill. My mind is blown out the window--even though I was boycotting politics at the time after two research papers on Iran/Contra burned me out to the ground I never fricking even knew who this guy was! Talk about flying under the radar! We could use some more Americans like him.

Agreed, good entertainment, but nowhere as good as the first-I'm dying in anticipation of the third installment.

Army of Darkness? That's the one with the line "Shop Smart; Shop S-Mart!" In it, right?

Seriously, Army of Darkness is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen, on a par with The Life of Brian

I watched Local Hero and am not sure I got it. Seems like there were some things that made the town magical and stuff, but wasn't spelled out like I'm accustomed to American films doing. Still, beautiful flick.
