In case anyone else caught it [or wants to] the Arcade Fire gig that topped the bill at last years [Friday] Glastonbury festival was one of the finest gigs I have ever seen [albeit on tv]. The energy and carnival atmosphere was palpable through the screen, the songs fantastic and the spectacle unmatched. Ive seen hundreds of live shows but I would have swapped [nearly] any one of them to have been at that show! Check it out if it's available on Y-tube or where-ever.

Having seen both groups in the past year, I
highly recommend the current lineup of the Moodies over the current line up of Yes. Both were technically fine, but Yes lacked the emotional connection I have always felt with them, whereas the Moodies were all that, even with Hayward appearing to not be feeling well, as far as I could tell.
The only disappointment
for me regarding the Moodies was the composer's, Graeme Edge's, recitation of
Late Lament; his spoken word just isn't as resonating as Mike Pinder's rendition.. But since Pinder is no longer touring with the group, I am glad Edge is getting to recite his composition, as the other piece he was featured in was...
interesting.

Seen Moody Blues in the late 1980s and Yes twice about 20 years ago.
Both were very good to see.

Saw Yes at Wembly in the 70's while doing acid which was a very
strange experience!
[Never seen The Moody Blues though which I regret.]
I did watch a
Cream gig [on telly] last night where Bruce, Clapton and Baker reunited for a small number of gigs at The Royal Albert Hall last year
. The guys were still all up to speed with their instruments and singing - but I don't know; somehow there was a lack of spark [if you understand me] in the performance. They were undeniably good however, and it was clearly a real buzz for the audience who were exstatic at the chance to see such an iconic threesome perform from the depths of time.

I'm envious Sorus - I haven't been to a live gig for years and years and I did love doing so!
Glastonbury headliners this year are not good for me; The Who, Kanye West and The Foo-Fighters. Fine if you like them, but they just aren't acts that I'd race off to see. Luckily as usual the best stuff is away from the main stages and there is much indeed out there to get into.

Lucimay and I went to a Billy Joel concert last night! It was AWESOME! It was opened by LeAnn Rimes.

I'm reminded of The River of Dreams song from 1993.
Virgin Radio had only just began broadcasting and I'd read something about Richard Branson allowing the studio to use his own personal record collection to get the station up and running - somewhere in the region of 2000 albums. It was so good to hear songs not normally played in the mainstream.
I had a pocket tranny switched on practically 24/7. Hearing all side two of King Crimson's, Court of the Crimson King, seemed very special back then.
And of course Billy Joel's song, note perfect, wakening me "in the middle of the night" as well.

Going to see Ego Likeness again next month. They're an East Coast band, and I think this is the first time they've come to SF twice in one year. (Almost makes up for when they skipped CA for 3 years straight.)

I may have mentioned it already, but I saw Dweezil Zappa last month and it was incredible.

I'm always surprised when someone has heard of them, though I hadn't considered that they're a local band for you.
(And of course you have excellent taste in music.)
They're not the headliner this time around though. I've never seen the main band (Angelspit) live - not a huge fan, though I'm somewhat familiar with some of their music. Their live shows are described as, quote, a war zone. Guess I'll be wearing my chainmail.

So I ended up seeing no less than 6 bands last night - Ego Likeness, Angelspit, Die Sektor, The Rain Within, The Gothsicles, and Everything Goes Cold.
Wasn't overly familiar with most of them, some were better than others, all in all it was a good show. Armor wasn't necessary.

Saw Al Stewart and Gary Wright with SD and Dam-sel on Friday night. Stewart did the first set, and Wright the second. While I enjoyed Time Passages and The Year of the Cat, the highlight for me was Wright's finale of Dream Weaver.
Last night we three saw Donovan. I put several videos up on FB, but, again for me, while I enjoyed Dona Dona, Hurley Gurley Man, Jennifer Juniper, Sushine Superman, Mello Yello, and all the stories introducing each one, the highlight was his encore of Atlantis.
