Shadow fingers slip through your ill used flesh.
My manic humour bubbles from your woe.
Yours is the bouquet that is ripe and fresh
For my pleasure. I travel back and grow
Other seeds which fruited their staining juice
Upon your fragile flesh. Blood dripping down,
Soaking it’s red richness to a black noose
Made by hollow expectations. A crown
Crystalline and hidden within your hair
As the dark queen you bring forth the power
To punish. As you march to a fanfare
And add another stone to that tower
To Linden Avery! My image formed
by lesser hungers and by my touch, warmed
My manic humour bubbles from your woe.

MEN-O-LLY! MEN-O-LLY!
It was this encouraging me to compose that broke the Watch!

Actually, see Vain's post here...
Once again, it is Av's fault.

I agree with what Wayfriend proposes
Let’s try to provoke a sonnet from Pam
Can’t wait to see just what she composes
We’ve all written one; why should she keep clam?
A fine poem she’d easily render
She needs only to set her mind to it
We know she covets the legal tender
That to the winner Wayfriend will remit
Look at her stories in role-playing games
Her writing talent is perfectly clear
If she tries, she can both kick and take names
Now's the time for her poem to premier
While it’s quite clear for whom she is rooting
She could do it herself, no disputing

- O Linden with your hair so fair of wheat
White gold and Staves of Law did you obtain
The help of Forestals did you entreat
Yet from the Earthblood you could not abstain
Urvile and Waynhim…and Demondim too
To your quest and influence were exposed
Wedges and Lore now seem focused on you
Your rescuers were not who you supposed
“Save or Damn” was the Unbeliever’s choice
While you must strive to heal as per your wont
Your son’s predicament has spurred your voice
The Truth Earthblood has shown will always haunt
Sun-Sage! Chosen! Wi’ld Wielder! Ringthane!
Will you, at long last, become L-rd Foul’s Bane?

Nice sonnet, Menolly. We knew you could!
(I appreciate the plug in line 9...even if it does not influence WF's judging.)
I'd pick on Jethro for writing *you* a sonnet, but it did get you to participate...besides, he submitted his Linden sonnet earlier than I did.
Wonder who else we'll hear from in the closing couple days of this contest. Already lots of good contributions!

Good work.
One question: "Wi'ld" ... two sylables? Is that how they say it down in Gator-land?
I checked and checked and could not find a dictionary to back it up. It may be more of a diphthong than a syllable...
But yeah, my mouth moves two times when I way wild.
I can edit and add another "O" before Sun-Sage, if Wild is not two syllables elsewhere. I had considered it when composing, but decided despite what the dictionaries said, wild is pronounced WHY-uld...
