Honestly...do you seriously think any of them will give the Vols a challenge?

Kentucky could easily beat us. I doubt Vandy will, but then again, Vandy beat South Carolina. Don't know much about Arkansas.

The SEC this year is, undoubtedly, nuts.

TN has a non-conference game today, against Louisiana-Monroe.

Edit: TN beat LA-Monroe 59-7.

With Bama and Auburn's losses yesterday, LSU wrapped up the SEC East, with 2 conference games yet to go. This is the earliest that I can ever recall the East being outright won.

Of the 2 games remaining, Arkansas still scares me. They always play LSU tough the day after Thanksgiving, no matter what the records are. McFadden can score from anywhere, anytime.

The SEC championship game brings to point another question :

Do ya'll think it's fair that some conference's have championship games where others don't? Primarily I am talking about the PAC 10 and Big 10 conferences. They finish their seasons and are done, whereas in the SEC we have to play one more game, and more often than not, it has national championship implications.

Now it can help if an SEC team with another quality win can get a big enough boost in the BCS to maybe leapfog another team...but the cost of losing that 'and one' game can cost a team a chance at a title shot, as well.

What do ya'll think?

The whole BCS system is bogus anyway.

It's a matter of perspective. Losing this late in the year and not having a Big Ten Championship game has killed Ohio State's chances of making the Natiional Championship game. Having a SEC Championship will kill LSU's chance if they lose it.

Right now I think the National Championship game will be between LSU/Oregon vs. Kansas/Oklahoma/Missouri.

I normally don't pay too much attention to the banter in this thread, I'm from Big Ten country. ;)

However, Illinois had to play a near flawless game to beat Ohio State, and they did. If they, Illinois, hadn't flubbed up against Iowa; they'd have now been in a good position to be smelling the roses now.

How are things in Division II football? ;)

(You want banter, Damelon? We SEC fans might like to pick on each other's teams a little, but that's nothing for the outright love and enthusiasm we have for making fun of Big 10 and PAC-10. ;) )

BTW - Jelerak meant to say that LSU had locked up the SEC West, not the East. Tennessee still leads the East after beating Arkansas 34-13 yesterday.

And thus is one of the many reasons why you are a favorite Watcher of mine, dlb.
