I must look pretty bad. I got up and showered and went into the new job and Ron took one look at me and said, "Maybe you need to rest up another day. Why don't you start tomorrow." So now I am back home and I'm gonna watch a vid and then go back to bed. If I hadn't had a starbucks latte I would just go straight back to bed. My brain feels like it's under a blanket and therefore recieving signals very slow. Ugh.

buy yourself some chicken bones...make a broth from them (you can add a carrot and an onion too if ya like...but just boil boil boil it....) and then add a bit of salt and other stuff to your liking (parsley is good). Then just have bowls and bowls of it. I swear by it! That and honey and lemon with hot water. Hope you feel better soon, Jenn.

I have got myself a job. Or maybe I should rephrase that: Mr Seareach has gone and got me a job!!!! :x

His company needs what we call here in Oz a "rock jock" (someone to analyze stone tool artefacts). I, unfortunately, know how to do this.

Pros: I can work from home, I can work my own hours, I get paid at silly casual rates (ie: great rates!)

Cons: I start on the day SoS starts school so there goes my desire to have at least a couple of weeks off after 5 years of looking after our child. I had great plans to write a best seller, make a mint doing stock photography, read a book or two...but NO...now I've got to go to start working. Bah!

Mr Seareach explained that it'd be "a few weeks work here and there". After speaking to his boss (and agreeing to do it), it looks like I'll have at least a couple of months full time work straight away, and as they're always doing fieldwork I might just be working constantly for ever! :P

CON: one month of work = an airfare to the US...three months of work and I have enough spending money to go bananas once I get to the US! And enough left over to buy a new couch. Just think...if I worked for a whole year and with the US economy going so bad I might be able to buy the country!!! ;)

So...I guess that means HOORAH FOR ME! ...I think....

...I hate working...and I hate rocks! :P

Poor Jenn! Feel better soon! :|

Sea -- well, *I'm* happy for you and your new job, anyhow.... ;)

So I came in to work today and found that one of my attorneys had left "gifts" for me: passport, drivers license and extra pictures for himself and another partner in the firm, together with a cryptic note to send everybody's passport numbers to somebody I'd never heard of. I barely got my computer turned on and people were e-mailing and calling me for travel info, invitation letters, etc. What the freak?? Bottom line: we're sending a team to Mumbai to work for a new client, starting at the end of this week. And...I might (eventually) get to go. Just think, a free trip to India *and* boatloads of OT! Chances are somewhere between slim and none that I would get to do any real sightseeing -- generally, with these trips, people end up spending about 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, staring at documents -- but the trip would still be pretty cool. Another secretary is also interested in going, so we'll see....

I guess I am sicker than I thought. I woke up and thought it was tuesday morning. I dragged my sick ass out of bed, showered, got dressed and started marching to the bus stop to go to work and then I realized it's too dark. Then I realized it is not seven am but seven pm. thank the gods I have another twelve hours before working.... ugh.

Gosh,,i got alot done today,,and by that..that means i didn't get alot of other things done.

Aliantha...i understand your words,,,but..once you remove the romanticism,,India isn't so ...inviting. I mean to say..the corporate i work for is trying to get" volunteers" to go to India to help them start up some corporate sponsored businesses...And the stories from those who have been there,,aren't very encouraging. Here is a country that has 40million people who to this day, do not have Electricity..in their home or village...but the country is buying modern jet fighters and bombers. Mumbai is one of the most crowded cities in the world and getting more crowded by the day.

But i'm sure that if your heart is set on it..you will make it happen for you. Just like Sea there..She really really really wanted a job,,and now look,,Sea has a job!

I'm BACK!!!!!!!! did you miss me?

but I'm leaving for Venice tomorrow, so I'll probably be gone again.

I'm excited, but I have a migraine....which kind of puts a damper on my excitement....

And I have Vivaldi's Gloria stuck in my head(which is what usually happens when you've been singing something every day for a week and a half).

Well, as long as one of us is happy then I'm happy!

And hope you get to go to India. I think that'd be fascinating.

thanks! I'm glad to know someone appreciates my presence. And indeed, a great piece of music to have stuck in my head. But a piece of music we've been working on since September, and one that I'll be glad to be done singing(not that it'll stop me from singing it at random moments five years from now...).

I love you too Sea. I wish it were hot here, or at least not so cold...

Mumbai's, like, 90 degrees.

The trip is somewhat closer to reality, but not for sure yet. I'm not gonna go for shots unless they say they definitely need me. And yeah, lurch, I recognize that it's not going to be like a big city in America; that's part of why I'm interested in going. The ex and I honeymooned in Jamaica, and among the things we did was a tour of Kingston -- another poverty-stricken colonial outpost of the former British Empire. (And anyhow, our folks are staying at the Four Seasons, which I'm pretty sure has indoor plumbing. ;) )

Had the first day at my new job today. It went very well although the software they use for invoicing etc is totally antiquated. I also don't have internet on my work station computer, it's only on the shared resource computer so that puts a big nix on im and hanging out on the watch. :(

A computer without internet should be just put out of its misery, I say.

Congrats on your new job, Sea! At the end of the day, it's all about the paycheque (and what you do with it).

ali, you're nuts. Oops, I meant: hope you have a swell time in India!

Miserable. Bloody job hunting...I hate it. And now that the interviews are starting to arrive, I'm gonna have to shave off my mohawk...and I was getting so fond of it...

 You were right the first time.

Prospects are somewhat dimmer. The client heard how many lawyers we were sending and kinda choked. 8O So the advance party is now about half the size, and they'll decide how many more folks to send based on what they find out in the first day or two.

In other news, the firm has purchased a few SteriPens for the team's water purification purposes....

I feeling alarmed! My bank account indicates that some one has just used my credit card to make 5 purchases at ITunes totaling over 200 dollars-so I'm off to the bank to nail the little sucker. None of our cards are lost and I doubt I'll ever charge anything at McDonalds again...

Go get 'em, danlo!
