WHAT?? No -- Arlington County, VA!lucimay wrote:well my second week here (last week) i found the park and ride to the metro is walking distance from my house so i *can* get to the metro and get into DC. would that be an efficient way to come?
oh....wait, i just googled arlington...yeah...no. LOL!
that's a ways away. assuming you mean arlington, md.
A typical house group looked like this. Needless to say, no running water or electricity. I approached to get a better picture, but the little girl saw me coming and ran away.wikipedia wrote:Wase Rock is a massive dome shaped rocky inselberg found near Wase town in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State in central Nigeria. Standing alone in the Wase plains, it achieves a remarkable height of about 350 metres (1,150 ft) above the surface of the neighbouring surroundings. Available records indicate that this beautiful massive dome shaped rocky inselberg is one out of only five in the world.
What a beautiful woman.deer of the dawn wrote: This friendly woman stopped to meet me. Her name was Gladys (they usually have an English name and a tribal name; note the baby tied to her back):
We had a stretch of -30C days at the end of last week. Feels like summer, now that it's 17 degrees less. Overthrow the government, claim all the money in the banks for yourself, and buy every Ozlander a trip to Jötunheim. Remember to bring all your sheep friends along so everyone can acquire a nice woollen shirt and socks for their comfort.Shaun das Schaf wrote:Holy holy. We've seriously gotta set up an air exchange between our two countries. Friday was 45.8 C (114.4 F) in Sydney, hottest day on record. How big do our straws have to be for the air we blow at each other to travel ~ 17,000 kms?

You had me at, "overthrow the government", especially as the water cannons, if they could just dial them down a notch, would be a welcome relief from the heat. Unfortunately, sheep wool or no sheep wool, I could NOT do -30 degrees for a second let alone a stretch!Frostheart wrote:We had a stretch of -30C days at the end of last week. It's a plan. With our combined engineering prowess and deer adding some heat from Zongo, we're set.Iolanthe wrote:Shaun das Schaf wrote:Holy holy. What we did there: danced to African music videos and showed Pilgrim's Progress (Liam Neeson's first film!) on a screen we erect on the back of a van, and preached the Gospel. Believe it or not, hundreds come to see this. Invited people who wanted to know more about Jesus to come in the morning. About 120 people came on Saturday morning. Some people who come are already Christian believers, looking for counseling on life issues.
One woman I talked to was one of three wives. We do not judge that, we try to encourage them and pray with them about the challenges they face.

So yes, taking the Metro would work just fine. If you switch from Orange to Blue at Pentagon, I could pick you up at either Pentagon City or Braddock Road.
I'll have to take Wednesday afternoon (the 30th) off, but I'm happy to do that.
