And non-discriminatory. Equitable, even.

I read somewhere that if you bought 50 tickets every week, you would win once every 6,000 years. Have you bought any lottery tickets with which to win?

I hate it when tourists clog up the subway system. Metro has this thing called a Smartrip card: you load in your money and then you just swipe the card and the little men inside the turnstile open it instantly, instead of shoving in a paper ticket and waiting while the little men read your card and *then* open the turnstile. (What?)
Anyway, Metro has helpfully installed express lanes at some stations, so that us Smartrippers can speed on through. The express lanes have a target for the Smartrip card but no slot for paper tickets. Invariably, tourists will stand in a gaggle on the escalator (instead of lining up on the right, like they're supposed to do, so us commuters can pass them on the left), and then get to the express turnstiles and try to shove their paper tickets into the nonexistent slot. And then they stand there, confused. And then they confer with their 87 family members, who also can't find the nonexistent slot. And in the meantime, they're BLOCKING THE EXPRESS TURNSTILES. Argh.

Dear telephone fundraiser:
What part of "I don't make pledges over the phone" don't you understand?

There is nothing wrong with my hearing, but some people find it neccessary to actually breathe on you when they are speaking, or put there hands on you to draw you in closer, as if proximity will further reinforce whatever point it is they are trying to make. It gets worse when alcohol is added. It seems like every time I go out I run into that one drunk who doesnt think that I have enough spit in my eye.
Heh, yeah. I've had a particular 'close proximity' speaker friend do a full circuit of a pool table with me, for no other reason that I was shuffling a couple of inches away and he was shuffling a couple of inches closer - over and over...

That bugs me, also.
Interestingly, I have very rarely been in a sort of opposite situation, in which a person has a much lower comfort level with being close to someone they are speaking with than I do. I generally observe the person backing up a couple times before I get the (nonverbal) message.

I can't stand it when drunk people try to get philosophical.
