and the Happening did happen last night. more design than happenstance that we happened to call the cable company and get it fixed. so that is what happened.

Watched The Last King of Scotland last night. Forrest Whitaker did deserve the Oscar for his performance as Idi Amin.

Julei has agreed to watch more M Night with me - i have all but the Sixth Sense.

Actually, their quality seems to be directly correlated to their release date... the more movies he makes, the more sloppy he gets (with the exception of 6th Sense, which falls behind Unbreakable and Signs).

Please tell me you're only saying that because you haven't watched it... it is, by far, the worst movie I've ever paid to see in the theatres...

Please tell me you're only saying that because you haven't watched it... it is, by far, the worst movie I've ever paid to see in the theatres...

I enjoyed it on DVD. The red "X" one was terrible if you believed it was going to be a horror movie, as it was marketed, and apparently the one about the pool was pretty bad, but, the Happening was good, IMHO, at least on DVD with a 6 pack of Heineken

Right, The Village was much better if you hadn't seen any marketing for it. Lady in the Water was barely OK, and The Happening... Well, I suppose a 6 pack of Heineken makes a lot of things better

I just rented Push last night. Not worth the money, unfortunately.

Poor performances (which surprised me from Dakota Fanning... so far, I've enjoyed almost every movie I've seen her in), poor writing, poor plot... I found myself tuning out to do other things, which is something that almost never happens when I see a new movie.

I picked up the DVD version of Ben Hur the other day. I haven't seen this film in oh 10 years or so but it looked great in widescreen (not just the chariot scene.)

Re-watching the First World War series. Excellent stuff. I'll then move on to World War in Colour (narrated by Kenneth Branagh).

I watched Cool Hand Luke for the first time last night. I've been a fan of Paul Newman for years and this was one of his best, if not THE best, performances.

did anyone ever see Paul Newman in Nobody's Fool? That was my favorite movie he ever did. Just wonderful, understated and powerful.

Just watched Adventureland, and I really enjoyed it. The movie took me back to the late 80s of my early teen years. Sure, it's set in '87, there's the soundtrack, and at one point the opening for Poison's "I Want Action" video. I also spent a lot of time at the summer carnivals, so there's that. But the thing of it, really, is that it feels like this movie could've been put out in the 80s, though the frequent use of cannabis maybe not so much. There's a simplicity and lack of self-consciousness that you don't see much of these days. Throw in some good laughs, three dimensional characters, and decent performances... definitely worth a rental (not sure if it's technically out yet, though).

Looking at Kristen Stewart's bio, I've noticed two things:

A. There are now hot chicks in films having sex that fall under my divide by two add seven age bracket. This makes me sad.

B. I'm almost tempted to watch Twilight.
