Certainly a trip, so to speak, down memory lane! And now for something completely different (you've already heard this Menolly....

)
George, and their magnificent lead singer, Katie Noonan. You must listen to her sublime, effortless, exquisite, masterful voice... oh, just listen!

Yes, yes, yes...
You have no idea the sense of relief I felt when I opened this and saw it was not yet
another attempt by you to sell
Tool to me...

"How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
How many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
How many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin in the wind
The answer is blowin in the wind.
The answer is
blowin in the wind"
Thanks for the music, Mary...

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is a moving and brilliant piano piece. One of my music teachers played it for me 15 years ago, and I was instantly in love (with the music and her)! I swore I'd learn it - unfortunately I suck at piano, fortunately there are many that don't, so I can still listen.

That's neat. The colored lights remind me of the Moog synth sequence in Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Dang it, Stevie, now you've got me clicking on the Beethoven vids.
The thing about the Moonlight Sonata is how its initial dreamy movement - and the title - lulls the first time listener into thinking the whole work is like that. Even the second movement seems in line with the first. But then the closing movement rudely wakes up the house.

It certainly does! Actually, I was going to post the 3rd movement too, but forgot. Hmm, maybe tomorrow (unless you get to it first

Never fails to get my adrenaline going. It's the sort of finale that makes me stand up and cheer, no matter who's playing - although Wilhelm Kempff was pretty darn fantastic. It's good to revel in the Moonlight Sonata again.
Btw, I don't suck at the piano - because I can't even play it. (I don't think pounding the keys at random counts.)

Beethoven didn't name it Moonlight, btw. Gorgeous piece, in any event. Deserves it's popularity.

I didn't know that...
Actually, it was after dlb posted a piano piece from Rachmaninoff (sp?) in the non-specific thread in General Discussion that I revisited Beethoven. I like to think I'm musically "able" to a degree, but I have the upmost respect for the piano, since I have no talent in that area. I have a theory that it is because I'm left-handed, and the left hand seems to want to play the melody as opposed to the bass...
I might track down some more - Chopin springs to mind, there are some beauties there!

Heh. No, Chopin wasn't half-bad.
Yeah, that lefty things is probably very annoying for the piano. Ever see tha M*A*S*H episode with the pianist whose right hand was permanently damaged?

Yes I did in fact! Awesome! But M*A*S*H was awesome overall in my opinion. Reminds me of Catch-22, a contrast of light and dark in the face of hell.
