Robert Heinlien, in "Time Enough for Love" postulated a time where the genetic chart for anyone who wanted it could be obtained, read, and, barring any bad news within the chart, it might be "genetically" no problem with siblings having offspring with each other, while two complete strangers may be genetically mismatched, with defective recessives reinforcing each other producing bad offspring.

I guess this might be due to Covenant almost hooking up with his daughter..is that why your asking? the whole rape of lena and then the weird feelings she Elena had toward TC even knowing he was her father was a little like Excalibur with Arthur and his sister,

mostly Incest was taboo because of the breeding factor and the chance of having extra teeth or psychosis or some other deformities.
