Why do you keep worshiping these false idols? It makes God angry.

Isa. 59:18. "According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay fury to his adversaries."

Isa. 66:15. "For behold, the Lord will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire."

If convincing the world that he did not exist was the greatest thing Satan ever did, would it also follow that he convinced us Hell does not as well?
2 Timothy 3:1-7:

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
the question is: Are we actually in it? 8O

Supposing firstly the existence of the Devil: I think Hell's existence was optional to the argument. i.e. remove Satan and you can still conceive of Hell. Indeed, the existence of Hell as a pre-assumed place may in fact have aided the idea that Satan himself was redundant.

Yes.

The real question, however, is: Is the greatest trick the Devil ever pulled convincing himself that he did not exist?

assuming that were so, it would certainly be a mean trick. :D
