Actually, the Reiki discussion is more for The Close... (I think the "take it to the tank" was RE political discussion - not your post.) Though I did want to respond here, because you brought up an extremely sensitive issue (for me).

I probably can't objectively prove anything about the sources of power involved in Reiki over the internet, but going back to things we learned in the Land... where there is spiritual power being transferred, one often needs to be very wary of the source.

In the Land, explicit bargains were made between Kasreyn and a croyel regarding power. Linden alone, with her Sight, could sense something of what was going on.

But what if in our world, the "bargains" are much more subtle? I don't think that someone has to be as utterly selfish as Kasreyn to fall into such a trap (though Kasreyn probably considered it "an advancement of my power at any cost"; not a trap).

I don't think that the "agreements" being made in our world are necessarily all that clear. But I do think that if we had Land Sight, we would see some things in this area amazingly clearly.

(if you want to talk more about "the real world" side of this coin, let's start a thread up in The Close, Blackhawk and/or Relayer.)

We would all be insane, or animals.

I think it would be good for people to be more sensitive to their environment and the other people around them. Might be there would be less pain in the world, though I may just be naive.

it would work like a two edged blade, good and evil there always has to be balance, on one hand you would have people using their ability to exploit weaknesses in others and on the other hand you would have people who know how to use it trying to teach those who lack or have little ability to strengthen those weaknesses. no matter how advanced or enlightened we become there is always going to be some thintelligent person trying to advance their own standing by rolling over anyone who gets in their way.

thintelligent is a word i got from a book somewhere down the line, but it means someone who is intelligent but has a very narrow view and scope to which they use it. sounded great to me..it should be added to the dictionary.
