That was the argument used back in the day when my sister kept missing the legal cut-off...

Yeah, yeah, if we're old enough to die for our country, we ought to be able to get drunk and vote.
Wait. I should rephrase that.
Oh, forget it.
<voice of reason> I'm also thinking about the fact that we're contemplating doing this at a state park. I assume that it's okay to have alcohol in the campground, but I'm *certain* that okayness won't extend to a minor with alcohol, whether her mom is standing right there or not. </voice of reason>
So -- one solution would be to take the drunken watermelon to Cag's.

Well...I'll be dependent upon others for transportation no matter where I am. So, either location is fine with me.
And that would take care of Luci's concern about drunken watermelon at the same time as s'mores...

*slapping self silly to try and stop laughter*

Don't worry, MagickMaker, I'll find a way to sneak you some of the good stuff.
As for this:

...do we anticipate a police presence? Are we likely to be such a raucous bunch that the site management will be alerted to our intoxication of a (person who really should be old enough to drink under any sensible government) minor? Honestly, no-one will notice or care. Give in to the dark side. She'll thank you for it.

Y'know, in most circles I'm considered the "cool mom". Really. Honest to pete.
And I totally trust Magickmaker to do the right thing.

but then theres the issue of how the drunken campers are getting back to their campsite. I refuse to be your designated driver!

The food talk in this thread reminds me of the campfire scene from Blazing Saddles.

Most campsites out here put up with revelers on Fri/Sat till about 12 or 1 (from my experience) they call it "Mountain Fever"...

Yep. You're rapidly losing your say in this, Aliantha.

I will not stand by while someone of legal drinking age in my homeland is prevented from joining the revelry by excessive state nannying.
