Well, it seems to me that in this day and age, teenagers are all about going out there and losing their virginity as quick as possible. Like you're not cool until you've done it, and everyone wants to be cool. Peer pressure is a horrible thing, and I'm proud to say that I've never submitted to that rot. I'll have sex when I'm good and ready, and I've found the right person. I'm not going to do it just to be considered cool. I've also never smoked a cigarette or anything else. I've never done any drugs, and I've never been drunk. If that makes me a loser, I'm proud to be one!

In all seriousness, magicmaker, that's probably the best attitude to have. Only you know how you feel, and only you know when you're ready. I'd seriously question the motives of some one who was trying to pressure you into any of those types of behaviors, before you make a desicion to go along with them.

That makes sense. I wasn't criticising; I just didn't really get what you were proud of until you explained.

Being drunk is the only reason to have drunken melon. :P

Well...

If you use decent vodka (and happen to like vodka, like I do), and get a sweet melon, flavor does enter the picture...a little...

Foul, I think that any serious advice I could give you has already been said. . . with one exception. Pay attention to your body language and facial expressions. These things are very important in our interactions. I'll give you a personal example:

One night I was out with a friend, and I was lamenting the fact that no men seemed to be paying attention to me. Mostly, I was just griping and venting about it. My friend (who can be very blunt) looked at me and said "It's because you have "f*ck off" written on your forehead." Obviously I didn't really have that written there, but my body language wasn't inviting. I discovered that my default body language was f*ck off. Now I can't say that discovery magically changed my life, but being aware of it helped me to start making a change.

If you're looking to meet someone, you have to put forth the effort. Unless you're a movie star, supermodel, or sport celebrity people won't just mob you looking to hook up (for a relationship or whatever). You have to get out there and work to connect with someone. A good photographer will tell you that sometimes she has to take 100 pictures for every one that is perfect. Remember that rejection isn't permanent. . . if a chick isn't into you, just move on and eventually you'll meet someone who is--if you keep trying.

My parting tip: eye contact. If you see someone you are interested in, make eye contact--hopefully several times. You should be able to tell if she is into you by what she does with her eyes, and her expression.

Good luck! :D

Ah, eyes. Eyes are wonderful things for making a connection with someone. You'd be amazed at what your eyes can express - and what they can tell you about the other person's reactions to you. I love eyes.

On the whole, that's what teenagers have always been about since there have been teenagers. The extraordinary crap going on in our bodies at that age causes extreme drives. It's one of the big reasons the species is going so strong. We just keep having babies, whether it's a good idea for the individuals involved or not. And not just teens. You might think the president of the US has more important things to do than mess around with an intern. You might think he couldn't possibly expect to get away with it, being one of the most watched and scrutinized people on the planet. You might think his marriage meant a little more to him than a quickie with the babe down the hall. She's lucky she didn't end up pregnant! The sex drive tends to overrule all other considerations with many, many, many people. If it was provable, I'd bet everything I have that not a single one of us would be here if not for a teen pregnancy, an extramarital affair, or some such crap in our family history. It's just what we do.

The thought did cross my mind. But I'd like to think that she would have said it even if I wasn't reading it.

I could be delusional, of course....
