I've found that the gunk on the plastic 20oz bottles equals or exceeds those on cans.

Not that I remember to clean it anyway. :(

I do agree that "fresh" germs from a warm bathroom door handle are more dangerous, than two-day-old "dirt" on a refrigerated soda can. Dirt does not always equal germ.

I once had to clean a men's restroom at a restaurant, and found a nasty surprise waiting for me in a wad of toilet tissue that was on the floor next to the trash can. That little episode reinforced the bathrooms-are-dirty idea for me. :throwup:

My mom is the only reason I wipe off cans at all. She insists that I wipe off canned food before attacking the cans with the can opener. This led to the selective wiping of soda cans. It may not surprise any of you that my mom is a nurse.
