South Africa were awesome - I loved their attitude! Even though France were shit this time around, it's still a great effort to beat a top flight European side.

I'll miss the England v Slovenia and USA v Algeria matches. Must go to bed so I can get up at some ridiculous hour and watch the Aussie's fate...

I believe that USA definitely moves on having secured first place in Group C with England moving on as second. (They won as well.) Both England and the US were at 1-0-2 but we finish first based on goal differential (we scored 4 goals to their 2.) We will will face the runner-up in Group D this weekend. Those more knowledgable should feel free to correct me.

They were awaiting the results of the Group D games. They are now done. The USA will play Ghana on Saturday. England will play Germany on Sunday.

What AjK and Damelon said! The next phase is sudden death, so the winner goes to the quarter finals, and there will be extra time and penalties if the score remains level.

Well, the Aussie's bowed out bravely this morning, winning 2-1 to Serbia but going out on goal difference. The first game against Germany was the killer.

Yep, US and England through to the next round.

And reigning champs Italy knocked out by Slovakia, 3-2. The bit I watched was great.

Aussies last game was good, bummer about the goal difference. Still, glad to see at least one African team get through to the next round. Ivory coast might have a chance, but they'll need a lot of goals.

See the Kiwi's are out too, after 3 draws.

Italy and France are both out... amazing. And Korea and Japan are both moving on (assuming Japan holds their 2-0 lead).

I'm looking forward to Brazil-Portugal and Chile-Spain tomorrow. Both should be good offensive games... IF they play all out.

Looks like Netherlands and Japan from group E.

The second part of the group stage produces the best matches in my opinion. Each country know what it needs to do to get through. In some cases (ie. Australia/Serbia) both countries have a chance of getting through if they win, which makes an exciting game with not much negative play.

I just lost 95 minutes of my life watching the goddamn Brazilians and Portuguese play the drabbest, crappiest game I've seen so far. I should have known they'd do that as they were both pretty much assured of qualification.
