I don't believe that Kevin would have meant for anyone to be killed discovering his wards, ie Birinair.
Each ward once understood would reveal the next, so we're told;
I like these definitions of the word 'ward':
1. a ridge or groove in a key or a lock that makes one fit the other
2. an open area within the walls of a castle
3. to guard or protect somebody or something ( archaic )

I've always assumed that Loric's krill was part of the Second Ward. When Elena gave it to Covenant she took it from a casket very similair to the one found in Mt.Thunder.
But if this was so, why does Loric's krill lead to the Seventh Ward instead of the Third? Most likely I've lost the plot there
And drifting off topic!

The awakening of the krill is the appointed signal to Amok that the New Lords are ready for the knowledge of the 7th ward,

The Power of Command.
If we all follow Berek's code of warriors then the world would be full of the worst warriors imaginable.

Mount Thunder was not always the realm of evil Cavewights and Lord Foul.
I gathered that it was a much more 'respectable' place in the time of High Lord Kevin, and thus was not such an unreasonable choice for the location of the 2nd Ward.
Regarding the krill, I believe it only makes sense that it is part of (or is) the Sixth Ward, since its activation serves as Amok's trigger.

Flippin'ek, I totally missed the logic there! A case of not seeing the wood for the trees, I think. Loric's Krill as part of the Sixth Ward makes perfect sense. Thanks.
So where did the Lords find the Krill? Very intreging!
To get back on topic - while reading about Mhoram's fight with Satanfist, the Giant held his piece of the Illearth Stone with both hands. I imagine his hands were the size of a professional catcher's mit, which makes the Stone kinda big.
