I'm going to try to get this book and read it before I do the entire "Man Who" series in September. I look forward to it very much......

I finished Gates of Fire last night!

All I have to say is:

Leonidas and it feels so good
Leonidas 'cause we understood

Yep, that's right. Gates of Fire was so good I made a parody of some song lyrics using one of the book's characters.

Er, in reality, I'm still kinda numb from digesting all that Gates of Fire was. I'll have some real insights later. For now I'm just stunned.

"He was the best of us all."
MAN!!

Come on the rest of you! You're missing a GREAT book! Weck up to thees!

Hey Duchess. That's what everyone keeps saying. I WILL get it. Just a matter of time. Can't wait to
be able to have the pleasure you all have already had from reading it.

I found it in the local crappy Waldenbooks. I'm very surprised it isn't in most stores you might look. (Although I'm not surprised if the employees aren't able to help you find it.)

For all the rest of you...DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK!!! ;)
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Heh, there this page is.....Gates of Fire is amazing. The depth of characters, the details, the circumstances of the people in this book are incredible. Then, when I consider that the battles, the training, the lifestyles of these people heally happened this way....I am dumbfounded. This book is a must read. Do NOT wait for the movie.....
