I only use SKYY or Grey Goose, the latter I noticed is one of the ones you named as good. Maybe I just don't like it by itself. Pretty sure I've had a greyhound with Stoli, but never tried it alone. I'll try it sometime, but I'll have an emergency glass of pink grapefruit juice on hand.

Grey Goose, I've found, tastes good when it is very cold. I don't like it so much at room temp.

I usually like my tequila without the paraphernalia, but that with the salt [as someone suggested] sounds like a refreshing hot day alternative.
And speaking of hot: if you think you don't like tequila shots, but you do like hot spicy food: dribble one drop or so of tabasco or similar into it, then slam. The hot seems to counter the flavor peeps don't like without completely burying the tequila.

That sounds good, Vraith.

I don't care much for Grey Goose. The best vodka I've had would be one called Rain, followed by Buerets.
And Vraith: would the tabasco sauce cancel out the flavor of corpses? (That's the agreed upon interpretation of what tequila tastes like in our group... minus the women, for some reason, they like it.. I think that's because women are crazy, though

)

I am very very afraid that people you hang out with know what corpses taste like.
Humanitarians. yuck.

Of course, haven't you ever had a burger?

We have a 15yo bourbon (not sure of brand yet, confident it'll be a good one) up for grabs in a pool knockout in a couple of weeks.
I'm quietly confident it'll be mine. Tips for the best experience please?

Way off topic but I can't resist: I played the lead in the L.A. 20th anniversary revival of the musical "Hair" for a year. The other major male is named "burger"...I simply cannot imagine eating him whether alive or dead. I know a few people who "had" Burger...I don't remember anyone mentioning corpse flavor.
OTOH: there's a reason that meat of the day is "long pig."
In other words, peeps supposedly don't "hmmmm...tastes like chicken"...they taste like ham.
Edited to add: Stonesortakinda: Really 15 years aged, really bourbon: sipping drink, below room temp [couple hours in the fridge for a full bottle, no ice in glass]. It the taste like that doesn't do it for you...sorry, you don't like bourbon, find mixed drink recipes to waste it on while getting drunk.
Edited again cuz I have no clue why my first edit, when posted, ended up in the middle of my original making it look like I edited before I posted. does KW have a random time traveling edit function?

I figured as much. Didn't take it as derogatory at all.
I'll keep it in mind if I have the opportunity.

Let us be awkward together!
A med student in Nicaragua once told me that human flesh was the most delicious flesh.
So, let's drink those memories away!

Did you win it yet?
Since posting this thread I've had my eyes opened to the merits of adding water to whisky, or in this case, whiskey. After selecting a sufficiently grand tumbler, I would try a very small amount of bourbon neat, then fill the tumbler with two fingers and progressively add small amounts of lightly chilled mineral water until the maximum flavor and aroma are evident in the glass. Afterwards, consume the resulting concoction with as much grace and relish as seems appropriate.
If you find yourself savoring this experience and the opportunity presents itself, feel free to repeat it as many times as you see fit. Now might be the time to pair the libation with a cigar or pipe if you have that inclination. And afterwards, drink the rest however you see fit so long as you enjoy it, preferably with companions of the corporeal sort. By that I mean physically present and apart from Deity.
