give me a chance!
First listen, it didn't impress. Perhaps due to the company it was keeping. I got Seasick Steve and the Bonzo's new one at the same time. maybe they're just more shallow - but they impressed me more after first play!
Enough people seem to love kc, I'll give it a few more goes though.

it IS a good album and one that made every person and critic say they were THE next big thing.
The imporatant thing to keep in mind is the time this album came out too. For it's time it is a landmark recording. Much of it still holds up today, but there are a couple of 'dated' pieces too.

I am unapologetically a devout Crimson fan. I spent many a saturday morning listening to my dad's Crimson records as a kid. One of my favorite childhood memories.

I'm just saying, you know? I remember the last gf I had before the one I ended up marrying; she sang and played flute, and was totally into Rush. I remember us talking about the different time signatures while listening to Moving Pictures; it was a connection I never had with another gf in my life, and it was very, very cool.

LOL He does, I guess? We have pretty much the same taste in music....except when it comes to KC. He calls them too "depressing". heh

on the topic of KC.... I just came across some postings that indicated that KC was going to be touring this year with a newish line up: Fripp, Levin, Belew, Mastelloto, and Pat Harrison (of Porcupine Tree) ... 2 drummers again?... hmmm interesting... Harrison is one of the more interesting drummers out there right now ....
anyone got anything to back this up?...

BUMP...saw this...
Interesting lineup...folk from almost all the periods.
3 drummers, apparently.
Tickets for 3 NY dates in Sep. go on sale in 3 days.
Crimson lineup features Fripp reuniting with bass god Tony Levin and drummer-percussionist veterans Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree). The trio will be joined by eclectic drummer Bill Rieflin (R.E.M., Nine Inch Nails), guitarist-vocalist Jakko Jakszyk and woodwind legend Mel Collins.

It's an interesting line up, but without Belew it's just not my kind of KC.

Yea, most of the stuff I like best Belew was there. But not all of it.
And I love Levin, even if bass isn't the most important thing for KC.
Heh...those Prog people seem to get around with each other...you probably know this [and I might have said it before...] but Alex Lifeson is [or once was] into Porcupine Tree, recorded with them.

Yeah, I've never gotten around to listening to the Lifeson/PT stuff. Is it any good?
Tony Levin is awesome. I loved the 1996 lineup (Thrak) with Levin, Belew, Fripp, Bruford, Mastelotto and ... damnit can't remember the last guy. Basically two trios playing together: two guitarists, two "bassists," two drummers. The fact that they each found a sonic space to play in without stepping on each other's notes was amazing.
