Okay, looks like Del Toro is going to be directing The Hobbit and the sequel/prequel...

Not sure how I feel about this. Just hope Bilbo doesn't have a red face and horns... Hellboy???????? :? :?

The Hobbit movie cast has been announced!!!

Meet the man who will play Bilbo Baggins.

Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, Love Actually and Hitchhikers Guide are all on my list of 'Movies that I can never get enough of'. He has a hobbitish look about him. A preliminary  from me. The proof will come when and if the movie ever makes it to the screen.

Richard Armitage, Rob Kazinsky, Aidan Turner..... hummina, hummina, hummmmmmina. None shall usurp Viggo's place in my heart tho. :hearts:

I guess the people interested have seen the official trailer, but I haven't seen it here, so just in case, and perhaps someone would like to comment www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOGsB9dORBg

The trailer looks great. I can't believe it's less than 5 months away!

This set of movies has a greater chance for surprises among the JRRT fans, due to the script meandering past the boundaries of the text. Given our last experience with Jackson/Walsh/Boyens script divergences, I'm cautiously optimistic. I welcome the chance to see off-stage events, but I can't help mentally wincing at the memory of changes to the characters in LOTR. I just hope we don't see every other character fall off a cliff.

Wow...Mom started this thread back in 2004. It makes me sad that she will not be able to see the new movies. I remember she would comb the net looking for news about it.

The trailer and all the videos from Comic-Con are amazing! It actually happened! We're getting Hobbit movies! :-)

Anyone have the extended edition yet? It's pretty cool. Caution: Dwarf ass. Seriously.

I didn't see this until now, but yeah, I have the Extended Edition. It's weird that that put in at least two more musical numbers. Particularly the Goblin King one. It did really take me out of Middle Earth, much like the podracer announcer in Star Wars Episode 1, but for some reason I didn't mind as much, and maybe because it is the Extended Edition rather than the theatrical release, and also because it was fun instead of annoying.
