Unfortunately, SRD told us that the first aHKA wasn't a Haruchai; we're still debating whether the Haruchai came after (that is, whether the Haruchai "form" aHKA "wore" when Brinn fought him was the result of another renewal) or if AHKA wore the Haruchai form simply because Brinn and Cail, who had heard his legends, believed him to be a Haruchai himself.Dawngreeter wrote:Ok, I now I have read the previous post. I still believe that this was an oops by SRD and because of that this topic could possibly never stop. Or it could very well be that I haven't read the the chronicles enough, this being my first time. Sorry if this response has been written before but give me a break I'm a new guy. Either way, this is my attempt at explaining this and it just might very well be crap.
Kevin brings a Haruchai to the Isle to get the Staff.
Personally, I'm still sort of persuaded that the Guardian of the One Tree was a sort of "force", a "title" which bestowed a certain measure of power (at the very least, agelessness - or slowness of age - and the ability to renew himself) on the chosen one; a "force" which had been set in place by Berek, and which wasn't originally bestowed upon a Haruchai. The Haruchai came later; and when the first Haruchai took over the mantle, then the Guardian also became aHKA. As to why the Haruchai sought the Guardian and took over his mantle, there could be several explanations - and SRD himself told us that the Haruchai probably learned of the Guardian outside known Land history.

I guess I missed the interview with SRD that aHKA was not Haruchai. But at least we know he wasn't bloodgard. However, there does seem to be a connection in the way he fights. Could it be that aHKA was special force in which whoever fought him was actually fighting a perfected version of himself?
So if the First had gone to fight him, he would have been a perfected version of the First, or something like that. Perhaps the aHKA legend was one that spoke to a perfected state of someone, and eventually got evolved to the idea that it was an actual individual?

It is not sufficient
