I thought Dune could've been better if it weren't for all the unfortunate actors playing Harkonnens and Harkonnen retainers.
And what was with the horribly distracting hats?? *grin*

I agree.
When I was a kid I thought Maximillian was cool and the concept was neat. As time has gone by I've long decided that the Black Hole was probably that very thing to the Disney company.

What the heck was that at the end? The nut case and the robot were fused into one and are banished to hell? Huh?

:-)

The Lost in Space movie was painful to me.

All I wanted was the Jupiter II, the classic Robot and a "true man" John Robinson.

Instead I got.......nothing.

The Jupiter II was some kind of breakfast danish looking thing.
The Robot was blue and weird looking.
John Robinson was a weak indecisive milktoast of a man.

The kids, Maureen and Dr. Smith were well casted though.
Don was too except the character was unlikable and over the top.

And no Chariot? COME ON!!!!

Heh, I hereby formally enter "Tron" as one of the worst (though definitely not the actual worst) Sci-Fi flicks ever. Great game, though; one of the best.

I know it's a dopey TV show but when I was a kid my father left me and my family (and I haven't seen him since) and one of my imaginary fathers was John Robinson.
He even looked a little like my father!
John was always in control and he put family first and always fought the bad guys in hand to hand combat.
Well, anyway that was the impression a 10 year old little boy took away from the TV show.
That and evil talking vegetables!

Mark Goddard lives in my area of Massachusetts and he was on the radio recently.
He's currently a teacher (I think).
He's a nice guy who appreciates his fans.

BTW. Though I don't think TRON was a great film it wasn't what I'd call a bad one. It was ground breaking in many ways and yes it spawned a very cool video game at that time. By today's standards TRON may seem a bit like a gimmick film but in the early 80s it pretty effectively used the technology of the time as its visual vehicle and plot.

Dude, the Video game spawned the movie, not vice versa.

If you had the special edition dvd like I do you wouldn't spout such nonsense. :-)

Sorry, I was confused. One thing I do know is that the Black Hole came out in 1979, while Tron was in 1982. So, again I am wondering about Tron's formidable shadow!

If anything the shadow of the fiasco of the Black Hole loomed darkly over TRON. :-)

Heh, now I can agree with that statement.....I heard Enrest Borgnine asked George Lucas to CGI Jar-Jar Binks over his character so he can forget he was ever in the movie.

Wow. I'd give a lot to see what GL would do to fix the Black Hole. Lots of extra robots floating along in the background. And yes, replacing the wooden acting and stunted dialog with even more wooden acting and dialog. At least the special effects could use a nice shot in the arm.

Face it; the Black Hole is the one movie Jar-Jar couldn't make worse.
