I voted Live Action, but i could go either way. I have a respect for *serious* anime artists and find it hard not to be entranced by their work.
Perhaps, sometime in the distant future, the invention of a completely REAL LIFE projection or hologram of a human being can replace actors, hence replacing scripts (saving the trees), no more blooper reels, and no more actors/actresses making a complete @$$ out of themselves in public, hitting the front page of a major gossip magazine--the kind you see every time you stand in line at Wal-Mart.
eh, just a thought...
Animated or Live-action?

My heart says live-action but my head says animation. I mean, how many actors and actresses out there are gonna sign on for a ten movie series? Actors are terrified of getting pigeon-holed as one character. So in a practical sense I think you've gotta go animation. I'm not even entertaining the idea of a mini-series... anybody see the travesty that was Earth Sea?
"Old Gregg, legendary fish. Some say he's half man, half fish. Others say it's more of a seventy- thirty split. Whatever the percentage, he's one fishy bastard."
true, the actors playing in the film would probably not last all ten films being made. For the sake of consistancy, animation would seem the more likely way to do it.

Sorry, as i pushed the submit button, an idea came to me.
if the movie does go animation, would the voice of Ron Perlman be a good voice for Lord Foul???

actually Mhoram makes a good point .. animated may take away from the power and depth of the story .. I think there is a middle ground .. live and CGI where needed ..Lord Mhoram wrote:Lord Defile,
An interesting proposition. But with certain scenes like the Lena rape scene, and even Lord Foul himself, don't you think an animated movie might take away the sense of realism (verisimilitude) of the epic?
(I mentioned LF because an animated Despiser might seem like a stereotypical cartoon bad-guy.)
I love the Shrek movies .. but the Chrons story is a little different .. if it was classically animated ... it might seem more like a disney-type production or a charlottes web .. but I think that's probably because I havent ever really thought of an animated chrons.
