Yes, indeed

Well, no matter who plays as what characters in the Gap films, my butt is still calling sick the day that movie comes out! ;) I mean, if it WERE to come out...not sure how you'd divvy the films up... Or make it the ultimate mini-series for HBO or something like that. I'd say Sci-fi Channel, but...too much strong sexual situations, violence and swearing would be occuring throughout.

Khm... is there _any_ major Hollywood-film, save for Disney's stock, in which there is no big-time swearing and violence?

I think SRD was joking about Vin Diesel. Hence the "wink". Atleast, I hope he was joking. I can act better than Diesel.

Any major "Hollywood" film. That's another thing, if I had my way, major Hollywood studios would NOT get their hands on any of SRD's work if he and some indy film makers decided to make it into a series of movies. I'd keep something like that independent as humanly possible.

The Gap series will never be filmed.

Why are you so positively negative about it, Orangeman? That's the one I find easiest to visualize. It plays in my head as a film trilogy.

A book doesn't have to be popular to be filmed. It just has to catch the cinematic imagination of the right people in the movie business.

A lot of times, people read a book because they liked the movie.

They don't need to be popular. What they need is a good script written out of them that catches the producers' eyes and fantasies.

I saw Maury Chaykin in an episode of Andromeda this afternoon. It reminded me: if only he were younger. He can do Angus's "bloated malice" to the life. And he has excellent range -- see Unstrung Heroes.

I truly hope that you all are kidding about Vin Diesel playing Angus. To be honest, I think it should be an unknown actor, someone new. Someonelike......me!

I vote:
Dennis Hopper for Angus, (if he weren't so old)
Jodie Foster or Jenna Elfman for Min Donner.

Foster is a good choice, yes.

Man, of all of SRD's books, this one was the easiest for me to imagine all of the characters in terms of actors.

Morn: Radha Mitchell (Pitch Black)

Angus Thermoplye: Dan Hedaya (Played Nixon in Dick, Nick Tortelli on Cheers)

Mikka Vassik: Claudia Black (Farscape's Aeryn Soong)

Nick Succorso: Bill Pullman
(Depp would work too)

Dolph Ubikwe: George Harris II (CAPT Katanga in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Somali Arms dealer in Black Hawk Down)

Hashi Lebwohl: Bob Balaban (Jonathan Steinbloom in A Mighty Wind, Dr. Chandra in 2010)

Min Donner: Bebe Neuwirth (Lillith on Cheers)

Marc Vestibule: Christopher Walken

Holt Fasner: Ben Kingsley

The Bill: Anthony Michael Hall (as he was in Pirates of Silicon Valley)

Sorus Chatelaine: Sigourney Weaver (she does menace nicely, plus she's the right age to have whupped Succorso)

So, whaddyall think?
