Okay, okay; I admit it. I loved the 1st album, liked the 2nd one, bought the 3rd one, didn't listen to anything else until I happened to hear something with a different singer, which I thought sucked.

living in Texas, I hear ZZ Top even more. how did a mediocre bar band become so popular?

Because Billy Gibbons is a phenominal guitar player (he was Hendrix's favorite).

ZZ Top wasn't big until they sold out, and that Hendrix quote (I.E. - Reporter: "How's it like being the best guitar player in the world?" Hendrix "I don't know; why don't you ask so-and-so?") has been used many times to describe many of Jendrix's 'favorite' musicians.... :mrgreen:

ZZ Top is a great band who has done some sucky things.The early albums are great.
