I have to agree with this. Melinda is the best vocalist I've ever seen on this show, and I've watched pretty much all of them, which may seem kind of sad, but whatever, it's my life!

My spouse watches Idol. I do not, but saw bits and pieces as I was in and out of the room.

Two things: Do she or Lakisha (the big gal) have a real snowball's chance in hell? Lately (the last two seasons), hasn't the fan base skewed to a much whiter audience? The area codes of the callers who vote (as I recall a story from last year) have been in the suburbs and from the midwest and south? If this remians true...can they win?

Look at Hicks for pity's sake. Not a bad singer...but explain how he won?

You have a point. Hicks was at best 4th or 5th last year, based on his voice. Still, the exposure is what people like Lakisha and Melinda really need; they'll get contract offers from labels based on their ability to sing, even if they don't win.....Jennifer Hudson is the current great example of what can happen just from the exposure AI offers.

If I thought that winning was more important that the exposure they've gotten by going this far, then I'd agree with you. But seriously, there's no way Melinda or Lakisha won't get contracts after the last 4 weeks. Just remember Jennifer Hudson's doing fine career-wise, and she only made the top 6.

Well, we're finally down to the last 4, and strangely, it's the final 4 that everyone predicted. Now the only problem is I stopped watching 3 weeks ago, thanks to all the Sanjaya crap.
