I want to contribute to the chapter 3 discussion but work has me jammed up and I haven't reread it yet. (I read the chapter and write notes as I read it, to prepare for dissection. Which means things can keep me from joining in.) I'll be in here soon, cause I need to start writing chapter I.1 now, it's so pivotal.
BTW, did anyone every say why we started out on two-week intervals, and then switched to one.

Sorry, I'm late (thought it was the 15th). I'll have my dissecting chapter up by tonight.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Dissection would be a bit more troublesome if this is true.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

Sorry ... I have two editions of Runes, actually.danlo wrote:Does this mean you don't have a copy of the BOOK!
To us computer people, "text version" means something.txt file on my computer. As opposed to the Word version (something.doc), the Postscript version (something.ps), the PDF version (something.pdf). They all would be pretty nice, now that I contemplate them.

Ok, if no one else is going to do Distraction, and you all are looking for someone, I *may* be able to do it, heh. I guess I owe you all one chapter since i bailed out of the other one. But my thesis should be done after I defend on Friday, so I should have some free time again to read this thing. I haven't picked up Runes since I read it the first time, so I hope it won't be too hard to pick it up again, heh. Let me see if I can skim the chapter and make sure it's something I could write about.-jay

Just remember, going at your copy of Runes with a kitchen knofe does not costitute a chapter dissection..... ![Big Grin ](./images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

But seriously, it might not be a bad idea to have a sharp kitchen utensil on hand. Why not allow it as an optional accessory for dissectors? Of course, KW should first disavow any responsibility for dissector self-injury caused by untrained use of such utensils.

It's a damed poor mind that can think of only one way to spell a word. The greatest works of writing in history were writen without a dictionary!
