You shouldn't have let it.

(It asks you for permission to do all sorts of stuff when it installs...if you don't give it, it can't take over.)

MSN Messenger - 15.25mb
Google Talk - 3.7mb
I use my laptop for a lot of web and graphic design. I resent programs that hog space and memory.

Well, I can certainly sympathise with that. I thought you meant all the additional little apps they try and package with messenger...not to mention it wanting to change your search engine etc. Still, 15 megs is scarcely heavy. (I laugh saying that, recalling how my first HD was 20mb, and it could hold every game and prog I had...)

Yes, it annoys me too that Microsoft or whatever company would spend its time making up little innocuous-seeming questions to trap the unwary user.

I like you more and more each day, but, like Cov says, you're never on.
Awh...how sweet. But no. I'm hardly ever on. I have no time for anything these days....except getting on here and whinging of course!

And you do it so well!

Nobody was ever on when I would log in, so I just stopped logging into my messenger programs.

I've been hanging around on Saturday nights, though that can be subject to change without notice.
(I just hate to be slave to a schedule when it's my own free time.)

Sorry, gang, but I won't be around tonight. It just hit me that this evening is the opening concert of the Winnipeg Symphony's New Music Festival. Olivier Messiaen's
Turangalila-Symphonie will be played, and I don't want to miss it, because it'll be the first time for me hearing this work live. It's a very large work for orchestra, and regarded as a masterpiece of 20th century music. It will be new to
my ears, as I've only heard a very small bit of it in the sample Usivius provided in the classical dissection thread in Vespers a while back.
Hey, Furls, I was looking forward to pestering you on all things Tolkien, as I'm almost done reading LOTR.

Oh, well, next time. (Yes, I really enjoyed the books once I got into them.)

Hey, people, for the next MSN gathering, I propose we talk Tolkien and LOTR. Or at least that's what
I'll be rambling about - so you have fair warning now.
Oh, and Sea, your anti-Valentine avatar is bloody awesome!

I'll have to miss tonight's session, as I'll be driving to south Florida for a funeral tomorrow afternoon. Sorry mm, I would have enjoyed carrying on our discussion from the Hangar.

If anything's going to discourage me from joining in...

Well, I'm not here just to give LOTR unqualified praise.
Having finally read the books, I have to say there were many things I enjoyed about LOTR, but there were some things I didn't.
I just want to pester other people about this 800-pound gorilla of the fantasy world, that's all.

Fear not, I think the chatathons are a myth. I can be on msn 24-7 for a month and not see one.

Actually, I'm on MSN right now. (I wasn't on earlier, Sea.)
edit: No Sea, no Cove...hmmm...Cove by the Sea?
But Damelon and Lord Foul dropped by. Thanks for the chat, guys!
