I was actually doing the pushup challenge with some folks on another forum ( 8O another forum! 8O ;)).

Those who can are doing "real" pushups. Those who can't are doing other variations, including knee pushups and wall pushups.

Using them, I get no ache in my elbows, I can dip down below my hands, and I can only manage about 2/3 of the pushups I can do either on the ground or with stationary handles. I do three 2-minute drills every other morning, and the results are quick.
£40 here! 8O Oh well. If I can stretch my finances that far, I might buy one.

That's totally ridiculous, especially given the difference in the exchange rate. Seeif you can buy it from a US website and have them ship it to you. I bet that would still cost less than $80 US...

Great work Ms Mary and Ali! Keep up the good work!

I am working the Perfect Pushup drills into my regimen. Currently, the plan is to work up to the point where I can do a decent two minutes - I'll maybe add extra sets at some point, but that's a ways off, I think.

It's already allowed me to up my max on the arm machines - but I'm worried about over-training, so I'm still figuring out the right balance - push it as far as I can without doing harm... it is a strange feeling, walking around with chunks of dead meat dangling from my shoulders in place of my arms

Hmmmm, what sort of 2 minutes are you looking to do?

The beginning regimen on the sheet that came with mine is 8,6,4,2 in 2 minutes. So when I do mine, I do 8,6,4,2 normal, then do 20 decline crunches, 8,6,4,2 wide, 20 more declines, then 8,6,4,2 close (or narrow), then 20 more declines. The whole shebang takes about 15 minutes

I think I can scan the sheet and send it to you if you didn't get one.

The basic set I got didn't come with a regimen sheet... getting a copy of it would be great.

My current "two minute drill" isn't two minutes long at all - I must be doing it wrong - keeping good form, I'm trying to do 2 minutes of pushups. Since I've only just started, I can't keep it going for 30 seconds even.
8, 6, 4, 2 in 2:00 seems quite reasonable in comparison. :)

That explains the horrible pain, though, I guess!

For some reason I was ravenously hungry today and ate all sorts of snacks - mostly healthy ones, but still a lot.

And my right knee is stiff and sore for some reason. Image

I kinda pigged out on snacks yesterday too, MsMary. I don't think I'll post any weight loss this week. :( Ah well. I am trying my best not to visit the junk food machine today. One day at a time...

I trying my hardest not to eat fast food, but to eat the healthy groceries instead. So far I haven't eaten out at all this week. Good for my health, and good for my budget. :D

Yay Lyr! 8)

So apparently the American Psychological Association says that women are more likely than men to cope poorly with current-events-type anxiety. Which might explain my overwhelming desire to eat copious amounts of junk food this week. www.apa.org/releases/women-stress1008.html

(Wait a minute! What's wrong with *napping* as a coping mechanism??? :? )

There should be nothing wrong with napping to cope, as long as it is restful napping, not anxious napping - and by doing so you are decreasing any sleep-deficit you have built up. Being well-rested might further decrease the anxiety.

Napping instead of exercising, however..... that would be a terrible thing, indeed. :)

Agreed. For me exercise is a great anxiety/stress reliever, especially running. You gotta earn your nap! :)
