Wow, a sighting of *both* twins!
I'm good. Tired, tho. Yesterday was our last Czech class of the semester. I'd made a lamb cake for the potluck lunch (see the album for a pic of the one I made a couple of weeks ago), but someone else had made *two*, so we had quite a flock of lambs for the dessert table.
Then I drove from Baltimore straight to Roanoke to spend the weekend with the girls and see "Chicago" (college production -- *really* good!). Drove home today. Not sure why I'm still upright, since I need to go to work tomorrow...

- I still have a cold.
+ The front desk of the dorms has free cough drops and decongestants and such.
- My late-night snack tastes like burning, and it's not supposed to.
+ I got to watch a judo tournament yesterday and it was fun.
- I hate homework.
+ My sister's birthday is this week, and she's still not (quite) a teenager.
- My cd drive on my laptop doesn't work.
+ I have candy.
- I am really frustrated with myself.
+ This week ends with one of my favorite holidays.

There was a strong earthquake in central Italy today, which we felt even here in Rome... No damage here, but L' Aquila - a major city in the Abruzzo region - has been devastated. I have a friend there... I tried calling, but the lines are obviously congested. Hope everything's allright...

Thinking supporting thoughts for your friend, Xar. And for all those devastated by the quake.

I taught a Spanish grammar lesson to 8th graders today, and it went really well. Most of them even followed directions for the homework!

I'm tired. Been working ALOT. I did manage to have my laundry date with Lucimay on Sunday. Also, if all goes according to plan then I should be back up and running this weekend for home internet. Wish me luck.

I am hating life.
Carla is 99% certainly going to be laid off on Friday, which she found out today, exactly a month before her due date. Hopefully her insurance will still be in effect for a bit, as all the baby/birth stuff is on her insurance for now. If not, I'm hoping it does not take a month to get her added to my plan, as I suspect this will be another in a line of huge medical bills due to a small window of non-coverage by insurance. I don't want to pay out of pocket for the birth. Not only is it going to be awfully tight without that extra income, but put medical bills on top of it? Forget it.
I also hope we can keep all the people and places in place for this birth. And we might not have a choice at this point anyway, as we have signed stuff.
I'm not in a blind panic yet as I don't know all the facts, but I'm definitely nervous.

Yay for Jenn being back online!
Boo for scummy employers who would lay off a pregnant woman a month before her due date! That looks to me like discrimination -- that she's being targeted because of her pregnancy, so they don't have to pay the health insurance claim. I wonder if there's anybody she could complain to. Wage & Hour, maybe? Anyhow, good luck, Cag.

Nope, no discrimination. There will be probably about 200+ employees that are also being laid off at the same time. She heard that everyone who has not been with the company a year will be let go. She has been with them 11 months. It's not certain, of course, but as good as. Her friend also works there and had been promoted about the time she started. She heard from him that he has been demoted back to his old position.
