Cagsy .... your wife's insurance probably won't last another month by itself. And you very well might not be able to add her to yours until your yearly chance to make changes. But there is hope! You can sign up for COBRA which extends your wife's existing insurance. It's pretty expensive, but in your case I'd suggest paying for it, at least until the baby's born and home. The baby is a "life changing" event, and he/she can go on your insurance right away. I guess a laid-off pregant wife isn't "life changing" tho.
Yeah, yeah, you probably already know all this by now.
I hope it all works out okay!!!

I want to cry. I sorely miss someone who no longer exists, and maybe never did.

I must have a new allergy. It seems, over the last couple of days, like I constantly have sand in my eyes. I've never had a reaction like that before.

Damelon...
At our age, if it lasts perhaps you should have your eyes checked sometime soon. From a personal new diagnosis, the very beginning of cataracts feels much the same...
...and I have my answer why the city markers on the Pantheon map are so difficult for me to make out...

That sucks, Menolly. And Damelon, let's hope yours turns out to be something else....

It's official now. Carla was told to take the day off today, and she would get paid for today and tomorrow. She was on the list.
As for the insurance issue, I spoke with HR about adding her, and they said it is a "life changing event" and not to worry about it. They said that if it is out of network, as she is over 2/3rds done with the pregnancy that it will be considered in network. So big whew there.
Well, we have a cushion for a bit, so she has a few months to birf this bebee and recover and such. And she'll get unemployment, so there's some money there. But it will be tighter than I had hoped, but I suspect we'll be fine. We just won't have the same luxuries, and might get a little tighter due to my insurance not being as good as hers was, which means we'll probably be paying for some of this. I guess I shouldn't stress until we know what we're facing. Still.....sucks.

Whew. Sometimes all we can do is be happy that its not the worst possible outcome. Now go rub your wife's feet and stop worrying; unemployment benefits have been extended now, I hear.

Yep, exactly. The important things are in place, so that's fine. But it probably means a delay in me finding another job after the baby comes. But we'll see.
