Howdy, Y'all. Welcome to the watch. I am fairly new here too (only a couple pages back I think...). The folks here are very cordial and will make you feel welcome. Post to your heart's content...your presence here is welcomed (at least mine has been...).
Jump in feet first!

I am curious if you are the first here because of the Mordant's Need series without having read any TCTC at all.
Yup ^^ I have only ever read Mordant's Need by SRD. But I am really looking forward to reading his other works

Wow! Almost like coming across a virgin who wants it but doesn't know exactly how to ask for it... someone who has ONLY read Mordant's Need...no TC, no Gap...all I can say is welcome and be prepared for a wild ride...

Sounds a bit like Terisa lol
I'm hoping I don't come across TOO many spoilers, although in some books little hints can often inspire you to read the books so that you can read about the part being spoilt lol

Quiss, welcome and be true! My only point was that "Mordant's Need" is probably the "lightest" of SRD's books (most virginal?

) ...the rest (TC, the GAP) are pretty dark and bleak, be prepared...although he is a brilliant writer and a genius, trust him and you'll enter realms of orgasmic word play that you didn't even know existed...really...

The Thomas Covenant books should be in your library...maybe the GAP books, but maybe not (they didn't sell as well as the TC books)..start with "Lord Foul's Bane", then "The Illearth War" and "The Power That Preserves"...that is the First Chronicles of Thomas Covenant trilogy...once you finish those I have no doubt you'll work your way through the Second...

Keep in mind if your library does not carry
any book, there is always interlibrary loan.

Aren't you making an assumption there Menolly? Maybe her country doesn't
have interlibrary loans?
Anyway, welcome to the Watch officially.
Suggest avoiding all the Chronicles forums and the Gap forum and maybe the Gen SRD forum is you don't want spoilers. Doesn't guarantee safety, but should get away with hardly a scratch.
Don't forget SRD's short story collections either...think you'll like those.
Daughter of Regals and
Reave The Just.
Have fun.

Hi All.
Just got back into reading TCOTC again on my new Kindle reader after being an avid fan back in the 80's.
Must say, it's even better the second time around and the aid of the built in dictionary on the Kindle is a Godsend for my uneducated self.
Looking forward to connecting here on Kevins Watch.

Welcome to the Watch, Dwaraka. I've become a fellow Kindle fan myself, I need to start a thread about that at some point. Or if you start one, and I'll join in.

Why, thank you for the warm welcome everyone, most appreciated.
My name, 'Dwaraka' by the way is in the Sanskrit language, one SRD often uses in the Cronicles, a left over from his childhood in India no doubt.
I'll browse to see if there is a discussion on this subject.

Sanskrit! Interesting! What's it translate as?

Hi Cambo.
Dwaraka is the shortened version of my full name which is... Dwarakadisa Das... pronounced Dwar-ka-deesh Das.
Dwarakadisa is a combination of 3 words...
Dwara = Door. Adi = Original. Isa = Controller.
Das = Servant of.
Literally it means 'Servant of the orginal controller of the gateway to the Spiritual World'.
Dwarakadisa also refers to Lord Krishna who was the original controller of Dwaraka city.
So in short Dwarakadisa Das means 'Servant of Krishna'.
