I think it could be interesting, but yeah, Acropolis is enough work to keep me busy.

And for those interested, you better get on board quick. The train's about to leave the station.

Any chance of a less vague timescale?

This might be more an IC question, but... if we DO manage to save Eiran after you launch the Ark, can you call it back?

I highly doubt that situation will ever occur.

Well, there's nothing more I can add to it, and with WB cults showing up and all, I figure there's no reason to wait around long enough for something to happen to screw it all up. End of this turn.

And no, I don't think I'll have a way of calling it back.

Can you give us a timescale for when you plan to outright destroy the world? When does the Arc need to go?

The world is going to end regardless of what any of us do, my own character included. Wouldn't you rather it end in peace than in violence? ;)

I'd rather save it.

Why doesn't anyone remember that Eiran is flat, with four corners? Exactly as the map is drawn?
:hithead:

...sorry...
I'm a bit frustrated here...

I know! Xar's avatar is just so stupid!

Perhaps Mox wasn't trying to show an exact representation of Eiran, but, rather, the general idea of a world being destroyed?

Oh, I get that. The same as Xar's avatar.
But I am venting, and that has always bugged me.

It shouldn't. Do you also believe that the 'mountains' are perfectly flat, or that the seas do not encroach the land out of purely magical reasons? Have you scientifically verified that the world has no curvature?

What of the moons (and yes, I know for a fact that there are, or at least were, three of varying distances from Eiran)? Do you know if they have phases or what path they take across the sky? Why, if the world is flat? How, then, would you explain Eiran's gravity?

The map is not the territory. The mist merely serves as a frame of ambiguity, the question of which there should be no doubt as Xar has pulled them back before to reveal more of Eiran as he sees fit. And if there is nothing more to reveal, then why would there still be mists (which is not to say that there is more, only that the question should be asked)?

Aarklar had his own interpretation that was neither globe nor floating square. It was very interesting, and in a way, useful and clever. There's nothing to say that it was reality, but there's nothing to say that your interpretation is sacrosanct, is there?

But Xar told us himself Eiran is flat, and the map is an accurate representation of it. Yes, it is 2-D instead of 3-D, and we know the land and sea has depth. But by flat I mean more of a thin cube, I guess. It is definitely not a globe, or so Xar verified to me when I double checked with him in person over dinner in Manhattan a year and a half ago.

As far as the scientific aspect of how such a world and its moons would work, I honestly don't concern myself with that aspect. As long as I have an accurate visual representation in my head, verified personally by Xar, I'm good. It just frustrates me when other representations clash with what we have been told is the case.

But again, I was merely venting. There is far more going on in this world which frustrates me. That was the easiest outlet to vent, is all.

Well, I guess I can't help what Xar told you in Manhattan. You think he would've mentioned that to me when I ran Aarklar's idea by him.

Still, I think we can all admit that a flat world surrounded by magical mist doesn't make sense by itself. I would be incredibly surprised if there wasn't more to it. Yes, the map is an accurate representation, but it is still a representation, is it not? So the picture of a world as a stand-in for Eiran is also a representation, just of a different kind. Kvetching that it's round makes as much sense as getting mad for there not being flags on it to mark the location of prophets.

The thing is that he told us this about Eiran long before Aarklar even existed in game. I wish I could find it in the previous comments thread. I think it was in relation to Jove wanting a group of islands on one side of the map from where she was located because she thought the other side of the map represented a continuous loop. But I am uncertain if that is when it was stated.

It is precisely because others were stating things like Eiran was a globe or other things that conflicted with what was said then that I did verify it with him in Manhattan. And yes, if I did misunderstand what I thought he verified, which knowing me is quite likely, getting frustrated regarding this makes even less sense than what you stated. But, I do anyway...

Regardless, if I am to be placed upon a planet, I will think of it as a sphere.
