<staying tuned>

Just signed up for a backpacking trip the weekend of May 2nd. It'll be the first time I've gone backpacking since the Girl Scout leader training trip several years back, during which the uphill hike thoroughly kicked my butt. But that was about 50 lbs. ago. Still... pray for me. (I've e-mailed the organizers to see if I'm nuts to do it. We'll see.)

but the girl was intolerable. the virtual dark cloud. in the end it was better that she leave. she was trying to be unhappy here.

still sucks that i have two grand children i can't be an everyday part of their life.

julie is really hurting.

but we soldier on.
I'm sorry to hear that, Sarge. All the best to you and your family.

Sorry to hear that, Sarge. That's tough!

Long and short of my day yesterday: Mr Seareach notifies me of an intensive lithics workshop in the US at the end of July. Because it's related to my work, most of the trip would be tax deductible and here in Oz the financial years runs from July to June so a lot of the really expensive stuff will be paid for before the end of this financial year = don't have to wait a whole year to use the deductions.

Um...so...he suggested I go! 8O

I'm so bowled over I don't know what to think! And I can't make up my mind if I should go or not (given the fact it's only a couple of months away, leaving SoS again, and that I'm going to have to work out how to get myself half way across the country by myself...scary!...and...well...sh*t...I dunno).

What do you all think?

Where in the US would it be?

I'll pray for aliantha's back (and feet) on her hiking trip, and I'll pray that Sea does the right thing...

Oh please -- what do you *think* I think? And why haven't you made your plane reservation yet?

I have to agree with the others. If you have a legitimate reason to go (no guilt!) and financial assistance, you'd be a fool to pass it up. I mean a ning-nong. :P

Oh yes! Go ahead! Throw my own slang at me why dontcha!!! ;)

I'm a bit up in the air about the whole thing (for various reasons). I'm just weighing up whether it's worth it: going over now and not having much time to catch up with various people; when I could just wait until 2010 when I can come over purely for a vacation and have plenty of time to do what I want. And I have to be realistic about how much it'll cost me (regardless of it being tax deductible).

:hithead:

Fair point, I suppose. If it's this OR a purely recreational visit, the choice is less easy.

Sea, would you be able to arrange the visit next year around the (hopefully) planned AATE release elohimfest? If so, I think the choice is easier...

What was your response? Are congratulations in order? If so, then Congrats!

Wow, Lyr! Depending on your response, congrats and/or good luck!

Where in the U.S. is the workshop, Sea, and how long is it? If it's a relatively short one, you could add on a few extra days and not still be away that long form S.O.S. Now if it's longer, or in an out of the way location that's a little different.

Congrats, Lyr!

Thanks, everyone. . . I said yes. And we set the date for November 6, 2009. We spoke with the priest today, and it's scheduled!
