So I know we haven't posted much about what went down cuz you know what happens in Albequerque stays in Albequerque.... oh wait, that's Vegas.
So, got in on Wednesday night, Danlo and Grace picked me up from the airport and Grace was sporting a faux pink stripe in her hair in honor of my pink hair. We went back to Danlo's house and had a nice quiet evening hanging out on the back porch with me catching up on all that was going on with him and Lady Tam and I played with Grace a bit and snugged Thor.

The next morning Lady Tam had to work so Danlo took her to work and then shortly after we headed to breakfast at Lone Star with Lucimay, Creator and Lucimay's friend Daniella. The conversation was excellent but alas chores needed to be done before the Thursday festivities commenced so we headed out to run a few last minute errands and then picked up Jonnyredleader and headed back to Danlo's house. I immediately put Jon to work as my kitchen slave while Danlo did his last tasks on his list of honeydo's. Jon and I talked quite a bit about the chrons as we worked and several hours into our conversation I brought up something about Fantasy Bedtime Hour. He still didn't quite get the connection to me so I explained and it's always highly amusing when the light comes on and people realize I'm THAT Cameraman Jenn. During the kitchen work, Creator showed up and Danlo quickly put him to work with house chores. Lucimay and Daniella showed up a while later and by then the bulk of the kitchen prep was done so some relaxing was in order. After a short bit of relaxing and great conversation it was time for the cooking part to begin so being caught up in the kitchen again I am not sure the order of arrivals but I think Damelon was next followed by Lorin, then Menolly and SavorDam, then Lurch. I could be totally wrong on the order but like I said, distracted by the kitchen. Anyway, Lorin gave me a beautiful book depicting some of the artwork of the watch and it's gorgeous. She also gave me a Lady Liberty medal for my hard work at the dinner and in helping to organize the event. She's very generous and amazing. Loremaster and Orlion showed up some time in there as well. Bob Vardeman was a late comer but better late than never. Lady Tam came home some time in there as well and both she and Lorin jumped in to help in the kitchen. The dinner was a great success. Lady Tam manned the grill for the salmon and it was perfect. I had a fabulous and deep conversation with Jon about Elena and her storyline and I came to realize that he was a bit obsessed with Elena of which I teased him mercilessly for the next few days. I didn't take very many pictures that night as I was too busy with prep stuff and then later I was too busy drinking heavily to bother. I did take some the next day, some of which I have posted and more of which I will shift through and transfer to post after I go make a cup of coffee and go sit outside with my laptop and pick some out. Everyone was so awesome and it seemed a bit surreal to actually be standing there talking to Loremaster in person. I didn't realize he was such a big tall guy with such a naughty sense of humor. 8O  Ok, going for coffee and picture sorting. Back in a bit...

Keep going, Jenn, you're doing great.

I got into town at about 10am Friday. Lorin picked me up from the airport, then we went to my hotel and I tried to check in but my room wasn't ready yet. We did, however, have a great chat in the lobby with Lucimay, who is staying in the same hotel as me (as are Creator, Cag, bossk and Rigel). Then lorin and I headed back to the airport to pick up Wadds, my roomie for the weekend. Then we headed to the BBQ. I stayed up *way* past my bedtime, eating fabulous food and hanging with friends old and new. (The pic Jenn posted above is of everyone who was at the BBQ, so I won't bother naming all the attendees.)

It's always a little surreal to meet other Watchers at an E-fest. Here you are, chatting with these folks whose faces you don't know, and yet you're gabbing away like you've known each other for years. Which, of course, you very likely have. The other entertaining thing is to try to remember to call people by their real names - altho everybody also seems to answer to their Watch name, and we've got so many Johns and Michaels here that Watch names are almost easier.

I'm feeling very sad that I'm on my way home across the ocean after such a great week. This trip has exceeded all my expectations, I would have been happy just meeting SRD but I didn't. I met so many lovely people and had such a great time that actually meeting SRD ended up being the cherry on a very large, delicious and surreal cake! My heartfelt thanks to Danlo and family for not only organising and looking after everyone (especially the high tea!) but for taking me out and showing me the beautiful land of Albuquerque. I'm still very touched by the warm acceptance and friendship that pervaded the entire week with people I'd just met. Thanks to Jenn for making me laugh being very cool and lastly trying to embarrass me publicly with my Elena obsession, loremaster for insisting we visit an obscure drive-in diner called roberts? and so many others for the great laughs, conversations, deep discussions and friendship. Someone asked me how different things were in the US compared to the UK and the honest answer is that I couldn't tell you, I felt very much at home :)

It suck to be home :(

I had a great weekend, and meeting everyone in person was definitely the highlight of my year so far :) Seeing how friendly everyone is, and how intelligent the conversation was (except for discussing a certain hamburger joint in Seattle!), I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet you all sooner!

On top of all that, we got to hear Stephen speak. I didn't get a chance to chat with him at the dinner, but he talked about Leprosy being the embodiment of social isolation, and how so many people can identify with Covenant's leprosy because we all know what it's like to feel alone. I really appreciated that, just like I appreciated this whole weekend. I've been having a really hard time lately; I'm not normally an outgoing person, and I have a hard time making friends. My best friend lives two hours away, and the other people I hang out with, it's only because we work together, and not that we have anything in common. Anyway, I was surprised at how easy it was to let my guard down with everyone, and to feel welcome there.

Anyway, thanks everyone for being so great, and making it such a memorable weekend :)

Jenn I can't believe you posted all this after working so hard and being so tired! The photos are really great, and I only regret that I didn't talk to everyone I could have. I have been raving to everyone how wonderful it all was. Really I don't think either me or Phyllis really had any idea how much we needed this experience.
I am still trying to digest the very first bite of the exquisite banquet of spiritual/social bonding we shared. A delight. Everyone was awesome and I'm sorry more watchers could not attend.
It is a great gift to have been able to attend.

Sounds like all of you had the same experience I've had every single time I've met another Watcher. There's a reason I've come here for 8.5 years, missing only maybe a dozen days. The people here are the best.
