How do they score Rescue?

It look like standard and sequence crazy 8 have the same scoring system. In rescue, the higher number better because you get a point for each correct guess, and one extra if you have a spare, for a maximum of 9 points. So 9 guesses to get 8 words - makes it harder than the others.
