had a moxie and milk to calm my stomach. (thank you again SD!)
speaking of stomachs... Julie found a lap band doctor who will do the procedure for $2500. if we only had a spare $2500...
Your insurance won't cover it? You have government insurance. It usually covers it. I had bypass. I had to go to a nutritionist for 6 months and then they covered it completely as long as you had weight related problems. This is not the place to seek out bargains, trust me.

that sucks.
here is a link for you that might have some info.

I use this site for a lot of info. One question - since the change period is coming up can you change your coverage to a company that covers the procedure? Just asking.

We get one company to choose from. Julie says that 2500 is the best deal we can do.

That sucks, Sarge.

I tell you what, tho -- bariatric surgery is not the ultimate solution. I know a number of people who have had it and still struggle mightily with their weight. No. 4 (that would be the ex's current wife, for those not keeping score at home

) had some sort of bariatric procedure and cannot eat more than a cup or two of food at a time -- yet she is very overweight again, a few years later. She has some other complicating issues, but still.
So much of it is related to our modern lifestyles and the crap the food industry pumps out. Sometimes I think my desk job is literally killing me....

I've been in the wars. Yesterday slipped on the bathmat while having a shower and banged my back on something on the way down. Just been to the doctor - very bruised ribs and pulled back muscles on one side. Very painful sitting down and getting up, bending down etc. There are compensations - Doc says "light housework only"!

Glad to hear it's nothing very serious, Io.
OTOH, I woke up early this morning because my right hip joint was killing me. No idea why -- I didn't fall or do any unusual physical activity yesterday. I got up and hobbled to the bathroom, took some ibuprofen, and went back to bed. Now it's nearly gone. Maybe I slept funny, I dunno. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Good old Ibuprofen. Sorry to hear about your hip Ali.

I tried in a timely fashion, but could not link from Sarge's FB page to Julie's. Ironic...I was a FB friend to both after 2011 Elohimfest, but have apparently not made the long-term cut for direct friendship with her. More is the pity, since I am a pretty vocal fan of Julie, as well as of Sarge. [pout]
Hope it was happy anyway!

Feeling very slightly ill today. Not sure what it is. Seemed to start after I ate a single piece of toffee this morning, but has kept up all day since.
On a positive note, I received notice earlier today that this week's big book release has shipped and is making its way to my home. That's right - Jeff VanderMeer's Wonderbook will soon be in my hands!

Now I just feel awful. When I got home from work I climbed straight onto the bed and dozed for two hours. After that I thought I was getting better, but since eating dinner I just feel worse and worse. Off to bed.

Julie works two jobs so she isn't online as much as she would like.

Got back on Sunday from Snowfarm in Massachusetts . I took one week of classes on glass forming. It was a lot of fun. Classes from 9am - 5pm and open studios all night. I had my own room and the food was great!!! There were about 80 students taking all kinds of classes. There are only about 8 people in each class. I think I will probably go back in May for a week. The leaves were peaking so it was really beautiful. A really nice place to get your head straight. It came at a perfect time because the job is messing with me again. I'll save that for another post.
I won't clog up this thread but I would appreciate you guys taking a look at my pics of the place and what I made.

I would like my ribs to stop hurting.

Looking forward to three days on the sofa with a blanket, a good book and a large tea pot.

After a couple weeks of being furloughed, it looks like the government will be returning to work. Unfortunately, since I am a contractor, I will not be paid back for my time off. The thing is, I've been able to use vacation time and in fact have negative vacation time at this point that I will have to pay back. Sucks to be me. But at least it never got to the point where I wouldn't be paid, so I guess that it's more of an inconvenience to me. It's just annoying.
Now what am I going to do to see the Hobbit on opening day?

Could be TLD today Iolanthe! [Hope the ribs settle asap.]
Dad's funeral today so feeling a bit low. Not looking forward to it much - too many 'ghosts from the past' and old 'skeletons' rustling in their closets. Just want to see him off in peace really but it's unlikely to happen.
[edit; 16:45] All over now, and much better than expected. Not a massive turn out but those who were there were [in the main] people I was pleased to see. Sounds selfish because a funeral is open to all comers [and rightly so], but in a long and eventfull life there are bound to be episodes that you hope to put behind you and days like these are rife with the possibility for the opening of old wounds. Great to say it didn't happen so can go to bed tonight with a clear concience that I didn't misbehave on my dad's final day and did all that was expected of me without complaint or regret. Also picked up my copy of TLD [strangely suitable] and will now be 'MIA' untill the final page is turned. Best wishes to all - see you soon.
