Ah, we don't do funerals in my family. A cremation and a big wake does for us.

Blarg.

Had bad acid reflux all night. Was bad when I went to bed, woke me up in the middle of the night, was still bad when I got up. Add to that headache because of the interrupted sleep.

Never had heartburn/acid like this before, lasting hours and into the next day...

The heartburn's settled now but I'm getting intestinal discomfort in its place, yay!

Thanks, Peter. Much better today - sitting up straight with a cushion behind my lower back seems to be the best position. Easy for reading too.

I'm glad the funeral went well. Families are strange animals. Good that we can choose our friends, eh?

Murrin, get some Gaviscon (liquid) in the cupboard, and see a doc. There could be a simple or a nasty cause but you should find out which! I've suffered from heartburn and acid reflux since I was first pregnant (1975) and have controlled it by watching what I eat and drink. Nothing with vinegar, garlic, other spices etc. However, when I went to the doc with my ribs last week she gave me some capsules to line my stomach because I was taking lots of ibruprofen. Haven't had heartburn since. Wonderful.

Nah, I mean no service. No people standing around in sombre clothes listening to some stranger talk about somebody they didn't know, surrounded by people they don't like or know either.

Just a casual, come as you are party with friends, family and memories. (Hahaha, at my Grandfathers wake, you drank gin and bitters or you went thirsty, by his express instruction. )

Been off the grid for a while - 3 week holiday in Sunny South Africa. Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Drakensberg, Somerset West.
Had a great time, including stepsons 21st birthday party, a night at the hotel where we got married 14 years ago (where we got an upgrade to a suite as we turned up 24 hours early due to bum information from my father in law - but I can forgive him for that cos he paid )

Back to work for a week, but off again this week and have my copy of The Last Dark to keep me company.

If only the weather was good enough for golf it would be a perfect week.

our truck died today. so we borrowed a truck for getting me to work. and that truck died. got a jump start for the 2nd truck though.

Today I feel exhausted. Worked 'til past midnight last night to meet an important deadline for the boss, then up at 05h00 again.

I think I'll get my massage treatment and then go home early.

Nothing worse than some newby minister short on gigs who gets your aunt's name wrong ("I, uh, didn't really know Nora..." a voice calls, "NORMA!" Yes, this actually happened). But, nothing better than a friend being honored by friends and family for their life, even if it ended too soon. We all have to say goodbye.

I have an ear and sinus infection, which is weird because I didn't have a cold. I went straight to the exploding-head headache and everything sounds like roaring in my right ear. My husband was quoting Arnold Schwarzenegger this morning: "It's not a tumor!"

ditto - happy and safe Halloween.

So, Happy Halloween. It's not something we've ever done, seems to be a modern thing over here. No trick or treaters to the door tonight. I did "Bob a Job" but not "Penny for the Guy" as mum said it was like begging.

It's been raining all Halloween here. Keeping the numbers down, though I haven't had a lot the last few years. Most of the little ones in the neighborhood have grown up, it seems.

I think a lot of parents are influenced by their churches saying Halloween is a satanic celebration, and they take them to harvest, or other public celebrations, instead of trick-or-treating door to door.
