Ah, Honniscrave.

in WGW, ch 3..Path to Pain...
"His death places no burden upon us but the burden of hope." The sunset was fading from the west and from his face, translating his mien from crimson to the pallor of ashes. "We must hope that in the end we will find means to vindicate his passing. To vindicate," he repeated faintly, "and to comprehend." He did not look at his auditors. The dying of the light echoed out of his eyes. "I am grieved that I can conceive no hope."

Lord Foul's Bane
"I'm breaking my attachment to physical power and possessions," Tyler whispered, "because only through destroying myself can I discover the greater power of my spirit."

Wow, what a coincidence this is, then!
Covenant felt her searching him with her eyes for some flaw, some falsehood which would give the lie to her fear. He stiffened. You have might, the Despiser had said, wild magic- You will never know what it is. The idea that his wedding band was some kind of talisman nauseated him like the smell of attar. He had a savage desire to shout. None of this is happening! But he only knew of one workable response: don't think about it, follow the path, survive. He met Atiaran on her own ground. "All purposes are terrible. I have a message for the Council of Lords."
Want an even stranger coincidence? go to Google.com and enter "All purposes are terrible." (quotes included). Only Lord Foul's Bane shows up!

Well thanks for letting me slip by and win. By the way, from what book had you quoted it from? Anyway, I'll re-post my quote:
"I'm breaking my attachment to physical power and possessions," Tyler whispered, "because only through destroying myself can I discover the greater power of my spirit."
Should be easy.

Coulda sworn this was the thread for
all books. Where'd that one go? I had posted Dune quotes and other stuff. At a glance, I had assumed this was the one. Oh well. Longer glances next time, Foul.
Okay, forget I ever posted here. I guess it's danlo's turn.
*goes off searching for the missing thread*

No, don't give up, Foul! Somebody should be able to get it! Unfortunately, i will need a hint, like the author's name in order to get it. It sounds like something Alvin Maker would have said, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with those books. Too bad my brain is stuck on Alvin.....

Foul and Fire's total miscommunication for a second there is great!!
But come on Foul, give us a hint for this one. We'll make an exception, since you accidentally got on the wrong thread. No biggie. Or at least another TCTC quote to guess.

If I tell the author's name it's a total giveaway. Just use Google, people. Google.
